Positive: The Villetta is superbly positioned on a hillside overlooking Calatafimi with hills and valleys all around. The 5 acre grounds include an orange grove which provided us with fresh orange juice every morning, strawberries, lettuces and a chicken run with very productive hens - fresh eggs for breakfast every day! It is comfortably furnished, if a little old-fashioned. It is very well situated for trips to the Temples at Segesta and Selinunte as well as the beach at Castellammare. Andrea is an excellent host, full of local knowledge, happy to provide both fresh ricotta and a recipe for supper. If he offers a half day tour of old Calatafimi, take it up! He is fascinating and seems to have friends who will open up museums especially for him. He took us to interesting parts that we would never have found on our own.
Negative: We did not do this as Andrea told us not too, but do not approach the driveway to the Villetta from the south as the road is very bad. Always approach it from Calatafimi.

Positive: Right off the bat, meeting Andrea, the guy who runs Villetta San Giovanni, was like catching up with an old buddy. He’s genuinely nice and took his time to show me the ropes of the place. It’s this awesome little slice of Sicily with a beautiful garden. It’s got it all - from veggies to orange and mandarine trees. There’s even a palm-studded hill and a mini forest nearby. The water here comes straight from a natural source. It’s the freshest, cleanest water I ever tasted. They even use it for the fields. There’s a neat little chicken coop within the property. Waking up to the views of Sicilian hills, breathing in the fresh air, and feeding the chickens was the highlight of my mornings - not to mention the fresh eggs for breakfast. Inside the house, Andrea had set up the kitchen table with fresh eggs, bread, cheese, ham, and fruits right from the garden. It was like stepping into a home away from home. The place is comfortable, with AC for any season, and has everything you need. Plus, it’s super clean. Honestly, there’s so much more to tell you about. If I get a chance, I’ll keep adding to this review. It was an unforgettable experience.

Positive: We were looking for a quiet place in the countryside and we found paradise. Villetta San Giovanni is located ca. 4 km from Calatafimi-Segesta (a car is a must) on a hill, facing the town and the countryside. It is calm and quiet, during the night you can enjoy stars above you. The house is very spacious and well equipped. Andrea is an excellent host, very friendly and always willing to help. We loved the garden with lots of fruit and vegetables and it was great to have an opportunity to take care of the chickens and collect the eggs

Positive: The location is in the prettiest part of the Sicillian countryside and is very quiet with great views. . You have the whole house to yourselves and it is very private and not overlooked. The house has everything you need, it's easy to keep clean because every room is tiled Italian style. The kitchen is well equipped with ovens and a separate microwave. There is an aircon unit in the sitting room and in the bedroom for heating or cooling. The house is well insulated and double glazed. The grounds are fully enclosed and the main gate can be locked so small children or pets are safe. There is a large garden outside the gate full of orange trees, 5 hectares in total. You're welcome to pick them and they taste really great. There's also a small swimming pool in the front garden and a chicken coop next to the house so fresh eggs! Our host Andrea is the best. He will do anything to make sure you have a pleasant stay, even bringing us wine and croissants and home made olive oil!
Negative: As with many rural Italian roads the last 4 kilometers to the house are in pretty bad shape but if you keep the speed down they don't pose a problem. The interior is a bit dated but it is all functional.
