Negative: The accommodation was too large for two people. There should be consideration to increase the number of rooms in the villas because it’s unnecessary space and does not allow us to make the most of the company that we have around us.

Positive: The room
Negative: The staff. Not attentive, drinks and food orders were consistently incorrect. Hotel was not busy, so there was plenty of staff. Check in was painful and to top it off when we left the island our luggage was left on the pier whilst everyone else’s was transported to the lobby for pick up. We had to go back into the pier and collect our own luggage.
Summary: Won’t be back.

Positive: The location was fantastic, with the hotel's own shuttles, the cable car or the boat you are on the mainland in no time. You can reach the harbor, where there are numerous restaurants and stores, by shuttle and then by escalator in 5 minutes. Vin wonder can be reached in 2 minutes by shuttle. The breakfast is excellent. A large selection for every taste. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. Even with the smallest problem we were helped immediately. Jun in particular, our personal guest advisor, was always there for us, even when he wasn't on duty he responded promptly to our questions via whatsapp. But the ladies at reception also helped us in all matters. The terrace with private pool, which is also covered, is very nice in the hotel. That was a big plus on the few rainy days. The room is very large and comfortable. There are hardly any people at the public pools and the beach. We thought that was great, it was very quiet and relaxing. We can definitely recommend this hotel
Negative: The price-performance ratio in the restaurant is not justified. It is very expensive compared to the restaurants at the harbor or on the mainland. 3 small things that we have already mentioned at the hotel: 1. there are no small tables by the sun loungers 2. there are no showers at the pools. These are only on the beach 3. it would be nice if the upper small pool was designated as a quiet pool with a sign and the lower large pool, where there is also a lot of swimming equipment for children, as an activity pool

Positive: Location was stunning; room was spacious and immaculately clean; wifi worked perfectly; breakfast was particularly good offering a wide range of options to meet dietary needs (including vegans); staff were helpful and friendly. Transport around the resort is easy and transport to the mainland by speedboat and/or cable car is frequent and easily accessible. I thought long and hard about an ocean view villa and ended up going with the cheaper garden view. We were not disappointed at all. In fact, there were advantages to the garden view villa i.e. quieter and more privacy - there's a walking path to the pool/beach that goes past the ocean view rooms and so people can see in if the lights are on and curtains are open.
Negative: There were a few things that puzzled us, but these were minor and didn't really affect our stay... The check-in process involved lots of waiting around. We checked-in on the mainland, then got a speedboat to the island, then a buggy to the resort, then checked-in again only to be sent away for 2-3 hours until our room was ready. The on-site restaurant for dinner is a seafood restaurant so not good for vegans. There was another on-site restaurant but we couldn't find a menu or opening hours. There were a few communication issues e.g. we were told at check-in we could use our room credit towards room service (which had vegan options), but when we tried to do this on our last night we were told we couldn't (I note this was resolved and the duty manager apologised profusely). The resort has a strict policy on bringing in food from outside (attracting a US$50 fine); but we couldn't get a sensible answer about what this meant or how it was enforced - we were initially told packaged food from convenience stores was OK but on one occasion we had water bottles confiscated at the cable car terminal and on another our bags were searched for food but our water bottles were allowed. Our only other issue was with finding out information about facilities on the island - we asked if there was a map of the island and were told there wasn't. We also couldn't find out what was at VinWonders. VinPearl Harbour made us scratch our heads - it was like a ghost town with lots of fake shop fronts and no people. We weren't sure if things were closed because of the rain, or because it was off-season or if it was still under construction.
