Summary: We stayed at this property for a week and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and peaceful surroundings. It was perfect for our group of four. There is plenty of space to relax and the higher elevation provides cool nights. Karen was very helpful and attentive to our needs. Thanks for a great stay!!

Summary: The property is beautiful and lush with 2 huge guardian bamboo trees greeting you as you pull up to the house. It's about a 4 mile drive up a mountain to this place. I had a minivan and used lower gears. Once up there there is lots of space to spread out. A beautiful meditation cave and a creek which is the upper part of a waterfall. You definitely are in the rainforest so expect lots of animals like coqui frogs at night chatting away. And also expect rain and clouds which being from Arizona it's a treat to have. Karen, the property manager, was on point with communication and response. It's a shame that this place cannot be rented less than 30 days due to the new law in place starting September. However if you have the time, it's a great place to retreat. Mahalo

Summary: Beautiful property. We stayed here for several nights for true r&r in between our Volcano Village and Kona Coast adventures. It's truly a peaceful place to stay. The very open space left our family of 3 feeling like we had more than enough room to spread out and relax. Karen is a wonderful host, we recommend you take her up on the offer of a tour of the property. We miss this place already!

Summary: What a peaceful, beautiful, soul-healing place to be. The grounds were immaculate and we loved the beautiful cement driveway, stamped to mimic real lava flows. It created the perfect manicured, yet natural feel for the property. The home was spacious, private, and very clean with plenty of bedrooms and wonderful gathering spaces and a nice kitchen for cooking in. We all thoroughly enjoyed the hammock in the back and the mini pineapples growing around the house. One might say that the host, Karen, goes the extra mile, but we felt it was like going the extra marathon. She greeted us with such love, welcomed us with fruit and other goodies, took us on a tour of the property and was completely accessible to help if needed. While in the area we visited Akaka Falls State Park (must-see) and while there also saw the waterfall that is on the property we stayed on (very cool), spent time driving to Lapahoehoe beach park (gorgeous to see and enjoy watching the beautiful rough waves but not a place to swim), took the scenic drive to Onomea Bay and hiked down to the little beach (worth it!), spent time in Hilo, used the beach equipment to go to Honoli'i Beach Park for an afternoon, visited Lava Trees State Park for a quick walking tour, went to Isaac Hale State Park and hiked in the Kaumana Caves lava tubes. Loved the area and the things we got to do and see. We only wish we'd stayed longer to just enjoy the property more. It was so relaxing and beautiful. Thank you so much, Karen, for your love and efforts to bring Aloha to us and so many others.

Summary: This home was exceptionally clean. The owner thought of everything down to eco friendly laundry soap, fresh flowers in the rooms, and fresh fruit. Stay here and you'll feel most welcome and relaxed.

Summary: I booked Aina Mana Hale for a weekend while my parents were visiting from Michigan and I knew it was the right decision the minute we arrived. The house is a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the island. Karen is very sweet, informative and accommodating. She felt like family. My kids enjoyed running through the grass and exploring the property. The weekend flew by and we are all recharged. We will be making another reservation soon!

Summary: Loved everything- the area, the house, Karen! After my reservation, Karen contacted me and we stayed in touch. I felt like I am going to visit a good friend! She helped me with suggestions, let us check in early, waited for us, explained everything about the house and the area. Her fruit basket and Hawaiian gifts were ready for us- awesome touch ! Mahalo, Karen! The house is so clean and well organized! Beds are so comfortable, we slept like at home. The drive to the house from the highway take a little bit of time , but it is so pretty and we stopped many times to take pictures. The instructions how to check in and out were not long like the book”War and peace “ ( like at some VRBO places, which always stresses me out), but short and politely formulated! We travel quite a bit around the world and often use VRBO, This one , like whole experience, is one of the best we had! We will definitely stay here again!

Summary: The property was absolutely lovely! Karen was welcoming and set out fruit for our stay. We enjoyed the location which was off the beaten track but still close enough to get to town if we needed anything. Everything was perfect and we didn't want to leave!

Summary: Where do I begin? Karen is / was an extraordinary host! From the moment we booked the property to the day we left, she was accessible, quick to communicate, the next-level helpful, etc. We arrived after dark, and the property was a bit difficult to find at night, but Karen didn't hesitate to meet us on the main road and had us follow her to the homestead. She was kind, friendly, accommodating, and everything you would want in a host. The property was so much more than we could imagine. Beautifully manicured lawns, gorgeous landscaping, ocean view, etc. The home was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, lots of windows and light, designed to insure a relaxing stay. There were six of us, and we were able to spread out and have a wonderful time. Karen even offered (and we took her up on it) to give us a tour of the property. This place is well-loved, and it shows! We hope to return to the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii again someday. When we do, we hope to be able to revisit Karen and this property we consider "paradise." If you are on the fence about a place to stay, and you are really looking for something special and "off the grid," this is the place for you. It is well worth the drive from Hilo, and Karen will treat you like royalty!
