In a pretty hamlet in the town of Dampierre en Yvelines, known for its castle:
Rustic villa for 4-6 people, in a 2 hectare park located on the GR11 hiking trail. For nature lovers (donkeys and horse) and for children (games available).
A large living / dining room organized around the fireplace (wood available). A kitchen. A very large bedroom with double bed, exceptional view. 1 small bathroom with shower and bathtub. 1 bedroom with 1 loft bed and 1 single sofa bed. Possibility of additional beds.
Linens, basic products (shower products, kitchen) provided. Cleaning once a week included.
Library with hundreds of books available.
Besides the 2 hectare park, large terrace also overlooking a small enclosed garden. Available: trampoline, bikes, exercise bike and weight bench.
The villa is located in a common paved courtyard (3 other tenants a year, no discomfort, discretion guaranteed).
Paris 35 minutes, Versailles 30 minutes, Rambouillet 20 minutes. Essential vehicle, necessary vehicle. Parking in private courtyard. Train to La Verrière (10 minutes) and RER to Saint Rémy les Chevreuse (10 minutes).

Summary: This sumptuous property is located in a pretty village (Dampierre-en-Yvelines) situated a few miles west of Versailles and borders a National forest (with an excellent Riverwalk just steps away). The local roads are scenic and popular with cyclists (motor vehicles treat them with great respect). So road cycling is a recommended activity during your stay. Dampierre also has a Michelin 1-star restaurant just a 15 walk from the house (the property owner knows the chef and can arrange reservations). The house is furnished in storybook French tradition and provides all you and your friends/family would need to enjoy an extended holiday in the area. There is a living room, dining room and breakfast area; in short, lots of space for a large party to spread out. In addition there are patios, lawns and a pasture for spending time outdoors on the property. While an automobile is almost necessary to access this place, a car is well-worth having for visits to local sites and even (for the bold) short drives into Paris. The owner (and family) have a separate house on the property and are readily available to offer guidance and recommendations. They are very friendly, speak excellent English and will likely invite you to have coffee or wine with them. Simply one of the best VRBO properties I have visited. Highly recommended!

Summary: This was a wonderful place to stay. It is in a quiet setting and about 1.5 km trip to the delicious bakery ... you can ( and we did) switch off and relax away from our usual busy lives. The house itself has a very welcoming feel from it and you could almost touch the history We are sure it has.. The host Valarie was just the friendliest lady to deal with right from the very first enquiry about the property. Even when we had trouble with our car , Valarie offered assistance and guidance, ( even though she was away on her own holidays.) and spoke to her lovely neighbours on our behalf too ( they were really helpful also) We were a family of 7 , 2 adults and 5 children The donkeys In the garden were an added bonus ,and the garden itself Was great.. The house was spotless and the warm welcome we received from Valarie herself included essentials in the fridge. Many thanks for the opportunity for all of us to have a peaceful away from it all base to stay which allowed us to explore Paris, Versailles and the surrounding areas with such ease.
