Summary: Absolutely wonderful historic hotel. Stunning location beside the fjord with lovely walk. Staff do everything possible to help you enjoy your stay. Hotel is stylish and comfortable, food is fantastic.

Summary: Gorgeous historical property for which I spent more than usual due to such wonderful reviews from everywhere. I was studying the capital Urnes stave church and could just take the little ferry across the field to get there. The old world charm of the garden with the summer house, the lovely appointed dining room and salon, and the charming village climbing up the hill behind the hotel made the stay delightful. If the dollar weren’t so weak, it would be more affordable!

Summary: Great historic get-away hotel, beautifully situated with a view over Sognefjorden. Perfect place for a couple of relaxing days, with many options for hiking, kayaking and sightseing in the area.

Summary: The grounds were lovely. We wished our room was in the original building, rather than the addition with entrance from the back. The dining area was spectacular and the morning breakfast divine. The presentation was lovely and assortment of sweets and savories was brilliant. We wanted to stay and sit in the dining area for the rest of the day. The stepson who checked us in was the only downside of our stay at Walaker. He was officious, abrupt, discourteous to our driver/guide and made a big deal about serving us dinner. Also, the speaker after dinner barely covered the history of Walaker and the family but seemed very impressed with himself and his humor was sometimes off.

Summary: We thought our stay at Walker Hotel was exceptional. The hotel was very charming. We loved the history, the decor, the first rate staff who went way way way out of their way to make sure all their guests had a fantastic visit. The food was fabulous. Loved the gardens, the waterfront, the boat ride across to the Stave Church and hike to waterfalls. Our room was cozy and had a nice view. It couldn't have been better. If you are touring the fjords this place is a must! We hated to leave and it was a highlight of our trip to Norway!
