Southview is a lovely home with gorgeous waterfront and marsh views from every window. With it's "Southview" you can enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets from one of the many porches, hammock, balconies, beach or dock. This home has a separate 2 bedroom guest cottage. Perfect for families with teens! This is a truly restorative "escape" from the bustle of life! Southview and particularly the North River is a very special place. The home was built by our next door neighbor Randy, who helps us oversee things and attends to guest needs when we are gone. The North River feeds into the Mobjack and Chesapeake Bays and is home to ALL sorts of wildlife. It is not uncommon to kayak with dolphins right out front. Too many birds to count including our resident osprey in the Summer and Bald Eagles in the Winter and so so many hummingbirds. Our home has everything you need for a great family getaway!

Summary: This is our 2nd year here and we can’t get enough! This time around we went to a cute little town in Gloucester and had a delicious dinner with friendly staff that made us feel like family. Every other day we just stayed at the property. There’s so much to do for all ages, and the views from the house and the yard are just gorgeous. We saw lots of wildlife which was exciting for all. And this year, a few of us used the outdoor shower which was such an experience! Definitely recommended!! This is the only vacation where I actually want to wake up early to see the sunrise instead of sleep in! Can’t say enough good things about this place and Maria! She is the best! We are hoping to come back again next year!

Summary: Perfect place to recharge and take in the views. Many activities to enjoy or just relax. Everything was well stocked and many extras. House / grounds were as pictured / explained. Communication was on point and easy check in. Would love to come back and enjoy this beautiful home again!

Summary: Great views - tremendous, from every room! Loved looking at all of the wildlife. We used and enjoyed every deck. There was an adorably goose family on the property the entire time that was very fun to watch. The house is beautiful - clean and very well-appointed. The owner was so kind and very responsive. You will love your stay here!

Summary: We cannot say enough good things about the property and Maria. We were looking for a place to disconnect and unwind with our adult children and young grandchildren and we found the perfect place here. Once we started down the dirt road we knew we had found the right location. The home is literally perfect and has everything you could possibly need. The guest cottage is a welcome bonus. We intended to go to Williamsburg and such but once we got to the house noone wanted to leave. We spent the entire week on our waverunners, using the kayaks at the home and our SUPs. Fishing was ridiculous with us catching literally hundreds of fish off the dock. Crabbing off the charts successful. Locally there are tons of reasonably prices food options for dining out. We appreciated the areas hospitality. Cant say enough good things about this experience. We loved it so much we already booked for next year! Thanks again Maria for sharing your piece of paradise!

Summary: This house has everything you need. Lots of space for our family with 10 people with 6 adults. We loved the dock for crabbing, fishing and swimming. The owner was just a text away and responded very fast. We had the best week!

Summary: The house is bright, beautiful and clean with the most amazing views. Spacious and artistically designed, this house has everything we needed from linens, to shampoo, to a first aid kit (my nephew had a mishap with a sharp rock). The owner/host did not miss a thing! With 8 people staying together we had our own space when we needed it and plenty of family fun too!

Summary: Maria's house is so beautiful. The pictures do not show the real beauty. We were in awe of how stunning this house was. Not only stunning but comfortable, extremely spacious, and clean. The house was equipped with everything you could possibly need and so was the cottage. We rented this house with 2 families. The older kids ages 12 and 13 stayed in the guest cottage which was the most perfect teen space for them. Our younger ones, ages 10, 8, and 6 stayed in the main house with us 4 adults. There was plenty of room. We most enjoyed the spectacular views of the water each morning with our coffee. We loved being on the dock each day using the floats, kayaks, canoe, fishing rods, and crab traps. We caught so many crabs and had a huge crab feast our last night. We also enjoyed exploring the areas, traveling to Gloucester, Yorktown and Willamsburg. Maria is such a great host. We felt so lucky to have found this home. We were contemplating on staying in Williamsburg and I am so glad we chose the Southview house. We would love to make this trip a yearly tradition.

Summary: Great home with all the important amenities provided and plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was well-equipped for making meals for the entire family. The large dining area made meals enjoyable and the views from everywhere were eye-catching. Sleeping spaces were plentiful but the downstairs shower made it less convenient for those not in the master bedroom. The outdoor decks were a popular hangout spot. The front-side deck with large table plus rocking chairs was perfect for lunches and morning coffee. Everyone enjoyed the back-side deck facing the river for all-day lounging. The upstairs decks off the master weren't used as much. The hammock was a hit, but bug spray is a must! We enjoyed fishing and crabbing from the dock where we found redfish, stripers, croakers and even a bluefish. The family took advantage of the bag toss game for a lively competition. The weather wasn't always the best, so we were glad to have brought a small play pool for the little ones while the river was choppy. We used the bbq grill, but its location was a bit inconvenient to the main house. Maria was an excellent host who provided lots of local info that enhanced our stay, and she kept in contact, even warning of impending bad weather. We found the suggested Hole in the Wall restaurant in Matthews was great for takeout, and Olivia's Cafe in Gloucester was an excellent place to take the family for a great meal. Overall, it was an enjoyable family vacation that went far too quickly.
