SUMMER FUN - Things to do during your stay at Dream Big Bay:
Fishing: Lake Chippewa, also known as Chippewa Flowage, is home to the world record muskellunge. Anglers enjoy walleye, large and smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch, crappie, bluegill and muskellunge. The average max depth of the Chippewa Flowage is around 30' but just outside Dream Big Bay is Moonshine Lake that is 90' deep. We recommend checking out Chippewa Flowage (dot com) under the Fishing Report section for up-to-date fishing report.
Boating/Tubing/Skiing: Come summer and late fall, on the water is where you'll want to be for all day water fun! The Chippewa Flowage, is 15,300-acres with about 200 undeveloped islands. One of our favorite things to do is boat out and find the "perfect" sandy beach island and set up camp for the day. While some enjoy beach fun, others are out tubing and skiing for hours!
Nearby Resorts, Restaurants: By boat OR by land, there are several resorts and restaurants nearby. R&R Bayview is our favorite breakfast spot. Treeland Resort is one of our kids favorites to boat over for pizza and ice cream. And before you head out for a late day or evening cruise, stop over The Landing for their bountiful bloody mary (or beverage of choice).
Explore Hayward: Hayward Wisconsin is a scenic 25-minute drive from Dream Big Bay. Hayward is home to the American Birkebeiner Trail, Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame (home of the world-record muskellunge - 69-pound, 11-ounce), Lumberjack Show, Wilderness Walk Zoo and Hayward is dubbed the Golf Capital of Wisconsin with nine courses.
Downtown Hayward is filled with shops, dinning, coffee shops and more! Enjoy a day in town and while you are there, a be sure to check out: Backroads Coffee, Firehouse Bakery and Deli, Coop’s Pizza, Treemblay’s Sweet Shop (your kids will LOVE Treemblay’s) or Hayward Mercantile Company.

Summary: We are a group of friends who have known each other for 45 years. My husband and I are from NC and the rest of our gang are from WI. We wanted to spend a week together to relax, fish, laugh and make great memories. This place is incredible! Honestly, the pictures do not do it justice. The lake view is fantastic! And there are no houses on the other side of the lake to ruin the view! There are 3 docks, and the boat launch is within walking distance. At the house we had plenty of room to park our two boat trailers and 4 SUV's. The canoe is large and very nice, but we ended up loving the kayaks and used them every day. Between our boats and the kayaks, we found several amazing beaver lodges. And getting to the main flowage is quick and easy. And each night a beaver swam past the house to munch on lily pads. One day at least 20 tiny turtles hatched in the back yard and traveled to the lake to start their new lives. We also saw several bald eagles, herons, ducks and geese. The firepit, deck and patio are perfect. The fish cleaning station and places to store fishing gear was a nice surprise. The house has a great layout. It's very clean, well maintained, and the kitchen is nicely stocked and easy to use. The 3-season room is quiet and a great place to talk or play games. We loved the house and location and plan on staying again.

Summary: The property was beautiful and had everything we needed. The kids even caught their first fish off the pier. The water was perfect and we all enjoyed floating, kayaking, and canoeing. The small downside was the distance to "town" but we did know that when making our reservation.

Summary: Our growing family of 12 has been looking for a place to vacation and return to year after year. The Chippewa Flowage is definitely the place! Dream Big Bay was everything we wanted and more. The hosts and property manager were all wonderful to deal with - timely interactions and questions answered. The cabin was beautiful, clean, spacious and worked perfectly for our family. The added benefits of the pontoon and Maui Mat made exploring the water that much more enjoyable. We packed coolers, life jackets, sunscreen and music and headed out to find our perfect beach. From sand bars to rope swings we found something new and fun every day. We had campfires and listened to loons and frogs, we kayaked and watched beavers, we played games and enjoyed morning coffee on the deck. Highly recommend breakfast at Robins Nest on your last morning to hopefully soften the sadness of leaving at the end of the week. Our week at Dream Big Bay was exactly what we were looking for and we’ll be back in 2025!

Summary: Sarah was very helpful and very accommodating. Super easy to communicate with. The very clean cabin is not only large, it is very well laid out for a family group: we had 9 adults, 1 child, and 1 infant. The large kitchen/ dining area with the fabulous view of the lake, the large outdoor seating areas, the dock and swim area all suited us perfectly. We also appreciated the reliable Wi-Fi, the dishwasher, washing machine, the large refrigerator, the grills and the fish cleaning table, although it could use better lighting. Highly recommend!

Summary: It was a guys only family fishing trip of 9 guys and and my wife came to cook and take care of us all. We had 4 fishing boats and the piers worked great to tie up. The house is better than the pictures indicate and the location special. The house looks like it was just built or updated with attention to all areas inside and out. If I had a negative it would be the coffee pot since we need/drink a lot of coffee in the morning and the coffee pot was challenging… a new Mr. Coffee would be a good replacement.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay, especially the lake views and open layout of the main living/dining/kitchen area. Plenty of beds & baths for our group. The three bedrooms at the back of the house were pretty chilly, I think because of the location of the thermostat near the living room with fireplace. Overall, a great place for a vacation getaway,

Summary: The property is really nice and well maintained. The availability of firewood for purchase was great since we didn't have room to pack any. Sarah was very quick to respond with any questions I had. I will definitely keep this property in mind for future trips. We didn't catch any fish, but it may just have been a tough time of year.

Summary: The highlite of the trip for us was watching the grandkids on the rope swing and the lily pad.
