BLAK House is a thoughtfully restored 1960s cabin nestled within one of the most picturesque valleys in the central Catskill Mountains. Laze away next to your own private stream that flows directly through the backyard, and when night falls, crack the windows open and drift off to sleep as the sound of the rushing creek envelops your bedroom.
While many other rentals in the area are set along busy roads, you'll enjoy complete serenity deep in the valley surrounded by wild forest.
Lovingly restored, thoughtfully designed, and comfortably furnished, BLAK House was created as an oasis away from urban life. Step outside and be immediately surrounded by the sounds of a natural spring and birds calling from "forever wild" State land.
The centerpiece of the space is an artisan fieldstone fireplace, built using native bluestone and granite excavated during the home's construction in 1969 -- perfect for those crisp autumn nights. Or, fire up the grill and dine stream-side with friends / family on our picnic table, placed just steps away from the rushing river, and complete the night with marshmallows roasting over the fire pit.
We offer all amenities needed for a comfortable stay -- fully stocked kitchen complete with dishwasher and coffee maker (pourover or french press), washer and dryer, Egyptian cotton bedding, plush couch, attached garage, and detached lounge area.
Remote work is easy with upgraded high speed internet (150 mb/s), and desk area (shown in photos).
** While the home does have enough beds to sleep 6, we highly recommend no more than 4 adults in the reservation as the space is 1100 sq. ft and it can get a little cramped with 6 adults. The bunk beds, however, are perfect for those traveling with kids, but are not to be used by adults due to weight limit **
The front door is monitored by security camera to ensure guest and host safety. There is a flat $50 fee for pets.

Summary: What a wonderful final week of summer we had in this beautifully appointed home that had everything you need for a getaway! The zen of the babbling brook that you can hear from your bedroom window is just the sounds to soothe the soul. We saw a blue Heron taking a walk up the stream & were delighted by 2 chipmunks who befriended us while we sat on the back deck. The host was available, knowledgeable about the area (and shared the info before our trip) and to our wonderful surprise - brought us fresh eggs to eat in the morning. This is truly an home and an area that will relax and take your mind off of any stressors that you packed up with you. I can't wait to go back and enjoy some more time there next summer!

Summary: We loved our stay! Angelo and Valerie were amazing hosts, so communicative and helpful. The house is so serene…you feel like you’re away from it all but with all the modern amenities and comforts of home. We loved grilling, making s’mores, having coffee on the porch in the morning and a drink by the creek in the evening. Centrally located to many towns and attractions. You don’t need to think twice about booking a stay here! Can’t wait to return!

Summary: Stayed for two nights in June. Very clean and homey. Very comfortable beds. Amazing to wake up with a stream just outside. The host is super responsive and friendly Would definitely stay again.

Summary: I stayed here for a little writing retreat and this was a great place to do it. The house was peaceful and well appointed, the river was inspiring, and the owner couldn't have been a more gracious host. I would highly recommend and would consider a return visit.

Summary: We needed to be out of our house for a week due to construction and we were so stressed trying to find a place that would accommodate our cat and dog. When I came across this listing I messaged to see if “pets” included cats (not all do) and luckily they did and could not have been nicer about it. The house ended up being the perfect getaway for us. It’s in a great area with incredible hiking. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to explore this area. We’re already hoping to be back soon.

Summary: My husband and I decided to do a last minute get away and needless to say there is nothing "last" about the Blak house! It is much bigger than expected, warm, clean, cozy, comfortable, and the best part right on the creek! We had a light snow fall and it added to the beauty of the house. Even though we didn't make a fire it would just add to the ambience of a beautiful home on the water. Deck is large and in the summer it would be perfect for entertaining and relaxing. Master bedroom has a huge bay window so when you wake up, all you see is the creek and deer! No wonder why I slept 13 hours straight! Only about 10 minutes into a quaint town and 1/2 drive to Hunter mountain. Plenty of restaurants and hiking trails. Angelo was amazing and the most responsive VRBO owner I have ever dealt with. We will be back in the summer when we can dip our toes in the creek. Also we were able to take our beloved dog! Thanks Angelo and see you in the summer
