Located just a few feet from the lake, this property has everything one would need to enjoy a stay in the Rangeley Lakes area.
The guest house: Large windows with window seats that open out towards the lake, a 1st floor bedroom with a queen size log bed, full bath, laundry and kitchenette.There is a deck on the 1st floor off the gueen bedroom,2 built in single beds (built in with reading lamps and drapes for privacy and light control) and a double bed complete the loft. The Main House: comes with a large three season room with an additional range, fireplace and large dining table, 1/2 bath and laudry on the 1st floor, large kitchen with a breakfast area, comfy livingroom, 2 nd floor has a queen in the guest room a full bath and a king lakeside with a balcony and fireplace.
The yard is large enough for games and evening campfires. We are within walking distance to restaurants, groceries, ice cream shop, boat rentals, tennis, plus hiking trails and only a few miles from the quaint town of Rangeley, and Saddleback Ski Area. There is a floating dock, with a swim area and plenty of room to tie up your boat.The natural beauty and wildlife are abundant. Wildlife spotting trips are a favorite pastime either by car or kayak. Listen to the loons at night under a star filled sky; away from light pollution, it amazing! Relax, get away from it all, put your feet up or get them to take you up Bald Mountain Trail. the cabin is stocked with tp, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, soap and linens. Dock space is available for your boat, trailer storage can be arranged at no cost. Boating/skiing/snowmobiling/ swimming/hunting/fishing/hiking/wildlife viewing is what this area is all about. Summary: The Shire Bunkhouse was clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was waiting for us. The property is right on the water for swimming and easy kayak access. It is also close to the town of Oquossoc with its restaurants and general store. Super friendly and knowledgable hosts make your vacation a breeze.

Summary: Loved the waterfront view of Rangeley Lake and the mountains. House was comfortable and had all the amenities needed for a great vacation. Jeannine and Bob were helpful and accommodating to whatever we needed yet not infringing on our privacy or space. They generously treated us to a boat ride around the lake and an evening campfire. Was a great week of rest and relaxation and would highly recommend it to others.

Summary: This cabin was perfect! It was our 1st 4 day weekend in 6 years and we couldn't have asked for anything more! I love to cook so I brought food to cook breakfast and dinner in. Everything you would need is already there! Down to a dishwasher! I was skeptical at 1st staying so close to the owners of the property, but Jeannine and Bob were amazing! They invited us over for drinks with their friends, had the fire pit lit every night, and were just there if we needed anything! After just the first day we felt at home, without the stress of real life, and the most gorgeous view you could ever ask for! We went sight seeing and hiking every day and enjoyed cooking dinner overlooking the lake by night. We HIGHLY recommend this cabin! The whole experience was more than we could have asked for!

Summary: Bob and Janine are the best possible hosts. Warm, friendly, welcoming, encouraging us to ask for anything we might need that isn't already provided. We have stayed at the Shire twice. On both occasions, we arrived to a family gathering in progress. Both times we were invited to join in! And they have a magic trick. They somehow manage to be available if needed, but we were otherwise left to ourselves to enjoy the peace and quiet and beauty of Rangeley Lake. The cabin is cozy, comfortable and clean. We were mostly the two of us, but were able to accommodate overnight guests with ease. There was easy access to swim, either by walking or diving into a lake that was just a bit warmer than usual. And last but not least, there are two kayaks available for guest use! And Rangeley is a wonderful lake to use them on.

Summary: Terrific location right on Rangeley Lake. Bob and Jeannine, hosts, live next door and gave us great information about the area. Very nice couple. Walking distance to little town of Oquossoc, which has restaurants, ice cream, and a general store.

Summary: The cabin was very nice and cozy and the view of the lake was beautiful. The hosts were very gracious and accommodating. We even saw some moose in the evenings while driving on Rt. 17 and 16. Very relaxing get away!

Summary: Easy rental however were not really able to enjoy it as we would have liked. The goose poop issues disallowed the use of the yard and outside sitting area by the lake for my physically snd visually handicapped wife as well as some of my planned activity also. The owners have a nice boat they envite you out on and provided a nice tour of the lake however upon return and an extensive discussion with them about the goose problems, as well as the owner getting on and off the boat and up the dock to the grass as well as bringing poop on the boat tug himself, he couldn't be bothered to as least clean up the droppings ( right in the middle of the narrow walk off)so I could help my wife up and off the dock and up into the yard which was completely full of poop up the hill to the cabin. He walked over the dame spot several times with cooler and propane tank. Also made launching my Kayak difficult on the other side access to the water. The cabin itself was nice, clean, a little hard getting up and on the rear deck nearest parking for her too die to bushes need a trim to a narrow step up. Circular stairs to upper sleeping area would have been more friendly with a half bath. Many restaurants had limited opening days and times. Cell phone (Verizon) sketchy 20 miles in and out of town towards I 95 and towards New Hampshire as well as as near the AT. Area lakes and views were great but unless a hiker, boater, fisherman, snowmobiler or ATVer lacked other things to do. But overall a nice week.
