Positive: The location is great, close to restaurants and activities, but in a quiet neighborhood.

Negative: The entry was a little confusing at first, we were looking for a door with a keypad and realized after checking the perimeter that there is an arctic entry without a lock and the door with the keypad was inside the entry. The space is homey and comfortable.

Positive: The home was clean overall, warm, and comfortable. It’s clear that it was someone’s home at some point- not just a rental property. I appreciated the antique fireplace surround and the antique furniture pieces. (It’s not a working fireplace which was fine for me— too much of a hazard so close to the forest I’m sure!) Those windows in the living room can’t be beat! The homes across the street block the view a bit but there’s a direct sightline for sunsets. I did see a whale passing by as well! Since the windows stretch across the whole front of the house there are great views from the dining area table as well. Nice outdoor spaces too. There’s plenty of light- both artificial and natural. I appreciated the floor lamps with paper shades that made things cozy on grey days and at night. The little Tiffany-style desk lamp added to the ambiance. I chose the front bedroom that is slightly bigger than the other one. The double bed was comfortable on the soft side that I like. Plenty of pillows and comforters. Lots of built-in closet space and drawers in a lovely antique bureau. Old fashioned bathroom with pedestal sink but new handheld shower head and toilet. A new bath mat is in order and some of the towels have seen better days. Lots of towels though along with beach towels as well. Full kitchen with lots of space, colorful eclectic plates and glasses, a coffee maker, microwave and new fridge. Frying pans are in good shape for eggs. Baking pans should be replaced. 1960’s stove works fine despite its age and look. The kitchen shows its age with cabinets that are tricky to get into for pots and pans. Cabinets and shelves could use deep clean in corners. The neighborhood seems to primarily be vacation or second homes with long term residents down the road. Quiet and peaceful with people walking their dogs and taking it slow.

Negative: I appreciated the updated laundry appliances but the basement spaces are less than ideal. It really needs to be swept, painted, and refurbished.

Positive: The ocean view was incredible!! The location is quiet and peaceful. The beds were comfortable and the house met our needs.

Negative: Cleaning crew could have done a much better job.

Positive: This was a great 1936 house with a nice view of the ocean. The house was quirky and had a lot of character. It quickly warmed when it was chilly and cooled off when needed.

Negative: The house wasn't entirely clean when we entered. The pillows were stained. It was tricky to park off the road. It's pretty isolated if you don't have a car, but that also means it's in a quiet neighborhood. No beach access. Limited walking to activities.

Summary: Go on a couples retreat in a quiet neighborhood off the beaten path with a nice view of the ocean.

Positive: We loved watching the whales! It's a great location as it was right outside Depoe Bay and in between two bigger towns. The house is cute and quaint with a good selection of movies and a few puzzles.

Negative: The only negatives were the slow draining water when using the washer machine and somewhat confusing tv and dvd set ups. The water from the washer drained into the utility sink which didn't drain fast enough before the water began to overflow the sink. I only did a medium load so maybe it wouldn't overflow with a small load. I didn't mind the slight inconvenience but I could see how someone else might be frustrated. Also the tv and dvd players came with a confusing amount of remote controls. It took us awhile to figure out how to work everything. Maybe some written instructions could have been helpful.

Summary: The ability to see whales everyday was a major plus!
