Positive: The views were spectacular and breakfast was wonderful as well. Ideal for anyone who goes fishing and or Golf. Close to churnet valley steam railway too if you are interested in that as well The rooms and public areas were very clean
Negative: My particular room had a loft window so no view of anything except the sky. We had been on the road for a while and fancied a bit of lunch when we got there but was told no food till 5. That was a surprise as the blurb did say they do lunch. The Wi-fi was not working for us, in mitigation, they did say they were having issues with it when we arrived. But it was only a minor inconvienence as we were very low on data at the time I think better sign on main road would be of benefit as well. We used the post code which took us along the main road it was lucky we found a sign after the turning to take us to the destination. Also a few signs outside to show us where to go to the reception would help as well

Positive: The views around the hotel were beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Negative: The hotel is rather shabby with a lot of small issues, like no string to put blinds up or down. Wi-fi worked only in the restaurant, not in the room, as the router was broken. The room was too hot, it was difficult to sleep, there was no air con or even a simple ventilator. The food in the restaurant was rather basic and of average quality. All in all even the discounted price seemed too much for this hotel.
Summary: It seemed to be a popular golf-club, as a hotel not very good.

Positive: Clean, excellent location in a little village and perfect for Alton Towers. Pool table and darts board was great entertainment Free view in the room, bathroom was huge, friendly staff. Food at night and breakfast was really tasty. Lovely little fountain outside so was perfect for a quiet evening
Negative: Obviously a very old property so we heard a few people moving around above us and on the stairs.
