5 Bedroom House in Axe Creek

Wicklow House is located just over 1.5 hrs out of Melbourne. Our beautiful five bedroom mud brick home has many unique design features throughout including beautiful stained glass windows, wonderful recycled timbers and doors, with a view that you have to see to truly appreciate. The huge family room has in house entertainment for everyone including a Smart TV with Foxtel HD Movies and Sports, board games, collection of books for both young and old, ping pong table and a mezzanine with pool table, dart board, foosball table and walk out balcony to relax, taking in amazing views and spectacular sunsets. Adjoining is the alfresco area complete with outdoor kitchen, and fireplace. Main kitchen is every home cooks dream and dining area to seat all guests in one area.
We are situated 53 acres of bushland that is all yours during your stay to explore.
All bedrooms offer mountain or garden views to wake up to, in the serene bush setting with kangaroos enjoying their breakfast on the front lawn and the native birds starting the day.

All linen and towels provided.
Our two living spaces with comfy couches and cosy wood heaters provide you with ample room to spread out.
Living Space One
Open plan kitchen complete with all you need to cook up a storm, lounge and dining area with enough seating for 14 people.
There is a wood heater for the cooler months and air-con for those hot days.
This space offers guests a quiet TV free adult space to relax with a coffee, good book or a glass of wine enjoying a chat with friends.
Living Space Two
Now this is your entertaining area, with Smart TV, Bluetooth Stereo, Wifi, Piano, Guitar and another wood heater and air-con.
Also is a mezzanine with games area and walk out balcony.
The Outdoors
While you are at Wicklow House make the most of the great outdoors and cook in our outdoor kitchen while your friends and family enjoy the evening sitting around the outdoor fire listening to the sounds of the bush gazing at the stars or having a dip in the pool during the summer months (Pool is only heated from Oct - March).
Enjoy a peaceful walk around the property and let yourself unwind in our beautiful surrounds.
Local area of Bendigo and Heathcote
The local town of Strathfieldsaye is only 10 min away where you can get all the essentials that you need.
Surrounding areas include Lake Eppalock with its many water activities to get involved in.
Visit the Axedale Tavern 15 min down the road or go for a hit at the Axedale golf course.
Heathcote is only 30 mins away where you can check out the farmers market, wineries, restaurants and quaint shops.
Bendigo is 25 min away and is a vibrant contemporary city, boasting beautiful streets, Bendigo Art Gallery, heritage tours and a wide range of activities and events for everyone throughout the year.

Summary: Don’t let the dirt road put you off it is a smooth 5min drive. Lots of room for 13, pool was a bonus, everything you need for a great holiday, only 10 mins to Strathfieldsaye if you need to go. Beautiful sunsets from balcony or poolside.

Summary: We selected this property to enable 5 work colleagues to have two days workshop out of the office. The setting was beautiful and the house perfect. So much space! Given we were working, the wifi was fantastic and the space to work at the two tables was ideal. Outside of working, the house was wonderfully comfortable and we had a lovely time. I wish we had been able to stay longer just so we could have made the most of everything the house had to offer! Highly recommend this place for groups.

Summary: Perfect size property for a big group! From cooking breakfast and doing the saturday quiz with 11 adults in the kitchen, to relaxing in the living room playing so many rounds of table tennis, the house was truly spacious but still cosy and actually felt like a home (no anko in sight). The sweetest addition was the host lighting both fireplaces for our arrival so the home was already toasty.

Summary: We had such a great time at the Wicklow House. We had three families all stay comfortably together under one roof. It was cold outside when we arrived but the fires were burning inside which was beautiful and warm. The house had everything we could have needed and we didn’t leave for 3 days. Lots of fun exploring the forest on the property and got to see some great wildlife - kangaroos, rabbits and even an owl at night. We had kids from 2 to 15 and all found their own fun over the long weekend. Would highly recommend for large family groups. So relaxing and the views across to the mountains was spectacular. We will be back.
