Positive: We had a wonderful 2-night stay here as a family of eight. From the moment we arrived, Mr. Wee and his family made us feel very welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Communication was excellent throughout our stay. Mr. Wee was always responsive and helpful, providing useful information about activities on the island. The ferry pick-up and drop-off service was also smooth and hassle-free. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Although we mainly used it for sleeping and showering, the shared areas were spacious, relaxing, and never felt crowded. The amenities were practical and thoughtfully provided, including a washing machine, water stations, a refrigerator, outdoor showers, and a selection of snacks, fruits, and drinks available for purchase. The hot water supply was reliable and never ran out. One of the highlights of our stay was the snorkeling experience with Mr. Wee. My parents were initially afraid of the water, but he was incredibly patient and encouraging, helping them gain confidence and enjoy the activity. We were also grateful for the amazing underwater videos and photos captured with the GoPro, which gave us wonderful memories to take home. We were fortunate to enjoy delicious home-cooked dinners prepared by the family. These meals added a personal touch that made our stay even more special. Thank you, Mr. Wee and family, for your warm hospitality and for making our stay such a memorable one. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the island and look forward to returning in the future.

Positive: After staying at X Rector Finest for several days and exploring Genting and Paya village nearby; hands down, we made the best choice and will likely never want to stay at a big impersonal resort or be stranded in just a bungalow room and nothing else. (1) There’s no other small, independent, homestay-like accommodation anywhere else like X Rector that provided the beach house vibes with all the thoughtful modern comforts and amenities like being in your own home. It was clear that Wee, the owner, had thoughtfully designed every detail with guest comfort in mind. This wasn’t just a place to sleep—it felt like being welcomed into a well-loved home. The common areas, spread across the main pathway, were open and inviting. We found ourselves moving freely between spaces as if it were our own house. There are outdoor lounge areas overlooking the beach, complete with a TV and Bluetooth speaker—perfect for slow mornings with a fresh pot of coffee or tea. The “tea room,” essentially a shared kitchenette, features a self-service fridge stocked with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at very reasonable duty-free prices. Guests track their own consumption on an honor system, which speaks volumes about the trust and community Wee has created. Then there’s the playroom—an air-conditioned haven filled with entertainment. It’s stocked with movies in both Chinese and English, a karaoke system, guitar, ukulele, darts, puzzles, board games, books, and more. There’s also filtered drinking water, snacks, and instant ramen available. The level of thoughtfulness is hard to overstate. Even the smallest details are meticulously organized—color-coded hangers for drying laundry (free use of washing machine) and matching dishware by room—it’s a dream for anyone who appreciates good systems and clever design. Take note that, just like your own home, X Rector is designed for some self-sufficiency in room upkeep without having to ask for everything.

Positive: Clean, Comfortable. Easy access to beach and jetty. The sea and beach is so beautiful. Free laundry service. Owner and staffs are very friendly and helpful. We had a nice stay here. We joined their Exclusive Advance Snorkeling and it was really value for money, we enjoyed the activity so much.

Positive: This is a family run guest house located by the beach. The rooms were very clean, tidy and bug free. The rooms are accessed by an internal corridor, so if you like a sunny room this is not for you. They have an entertainment room with tons of DVD's and a karaoke machine which we used after a few drinks. On the beach, there is a raised outdoor deck area with a couple of tables, some lounge chairs and tv. Also some weights if you had the inclination. Its the PERECT place to watch the sun set and have a few drinks. We ate quite a few meals cooked by the grandmother and it was delicious home cooked food. She grew a lot of her own vegetables which she used in her cooking. The owner Wi, organised trips for us to snorkel at different spots and took us out after making sure we had some additional snorkel training to ensure we were confident and safe. I have snorkelled a lot and these were the best trips I have ever been on, we saw turtles, sharks, giant puffer fish and so much amazing coral. From this guesthouse, you can also snorkel off beach which is something I think is valuable. There is a nice house reef there and lots to see. We loved the warmth and hospitality shown to us from Wi and his family, it was like a home from home while we stayed there. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. I thoroughly recommend this guest house.
