Positive: Wonderful staff, particularly the lady who greeted us and was on shift in the bar until 11. The food was incredible so amazing job by the chefs who we could hear singing in the kitchen and loved every minute of it as it was a quiet night and no one else in the dining room so nice to hear they were enjoying their work; made our stay!

Negative: Room was a bit cold and not able to drink the water and only being given sparkling water rather than still.

Positive: We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Y Pengwern and really appreciated how flexible and accommodating the staff were during check-in. Everyone was very friendly and thoughtful, and they kindly provided us with an extra duvet, which was much appreciated during the winter months. The room was clean and comfortable, making our stay enjoyable overall. A lovely bonus is the pub right on your doorstep — it has great vibes, and enjoying a pint in front of the fireplace was the cherry on top of our stay.

Negative: The shower water temperature seemed inconsistent. When checking in early, the water was quite cold, but later in the evening (around 10pm) it became extremely hot — hot enough to risk burning if turned to maximum. It may be worth reviewing temperature controls or adding clearer guidance. We were also not informed beforehand that the tap water is not suitable for drinking. Clear signage in the room or information provided at check-in could help avoid confusion for guests.

Summary: A comfortable and welcoming stay with friendly staff, a cosy room, and a great pub right next door.
