Positive: The host family were very lovely and welcoming. The scenery from the balcony was beautiful. The breakfast presentation was fabulous and servings were plentiful! And brought to you with a smile 🤗
Negative: If you want to be within walking distance of the main town of Ella then this property is too far away to do this at least in the evening. In the day you could walk on the train lines and it took about 25min. In saying that, if you want peace and quiet away from the town then this is perfect, and the family offered tuk tuk rides to and from town, and were always prompt.

Positive: Clean, well looked after and private room. We moved from a damp room which was really filling us with dread having to head back there at the end of the night and were warned online everywhere in Ella was the same due to the humidity, not YOLO lovely cottage. The room had huge opening windows to air out the cottage and a large mosquito net to allow for sleeping with the windows open to avoid the damp which seems to be the worst thing about staying in Ella, Good job!
Negative: The cottage is down a very steep hill which was a little awkward with our tuk tuk and would be worse if walking but worth it for the YOLO lovely cottage!

Positive: This place really is special, words can’t describe how beautiful the view is. We woke up to sunshine and by evening time we were watching spectacular lightning from the balcony, you cannot beat the view from this balcony. The host family are so so lovely and will do absolutely anything to help you. If you are coming here then PLEASE have dinner here, the curries were so delicious. Would come back here in a heartbeat!

Positive: YOLO Lovely Cottage is indeed lovely. Perched on the side of the hills over Ella, it is a separate 'annexe' in the garden of a family home, situated away from their house, but near enough for the delicious food to arrive piping hot. We sat on the terrace watching the train in the valley below, and the next day our hosts took us by Tuk Tuk to the station to catch a train over the 9 arch bridge. Just a lovely place to stay if you want to be slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Ella.
Negative: Nothing.

Positive: Sat on the train writing this and genuinely feel sad to have left this place. Felt like a home away from home (with better food and views). The whole family are so so kind and we felt like and extension of their family during our stay. The accommodation is lovely with your own separate bedroom and bathroom (even mini fridge) with the most beautiful terrace overlooking the hills. We had some of the best food of our whole trip here. The breakfasts were huge and delicious and they were very flexible with timings so we could get out early for walks! We also did a cooking class with the family which was a highlight and learnt how to cook so many dishes! The son gave us a tuktuk ride to the beginning of our walks and to the train station at 0630am! (and even found out for us that the train was running from the next town instead) We also rented a scooter for the day which was a great way to explore the surrounding area and they gave us lots of pointers about where to go! Cannot fault this place at all. If you are lucky enough they have availability on your dates, definitely don’t hesitate to stay!

The hosts were the sweetest family who helped us with everything we needed, whether that be pick up from Ella town, rental of a scooter or recommendations of places to visit in the area. We loved our delicious breakfasts on the terrace looking down into the valley Highly recommend if staying in Ella
Negative: Ella is high in the mountains therefore the room got quite damp at times so it helps to have the fan going
