Great location! The Benjamin on Franklin is walking distance to train, bars, restaurants & shops. "Benji" is the newest sister property to popular "Minty" (Araminta on Thames) in Newport, RI. The Riverside unit and Saugatuck unit are now available for short term rentals. Riverside is on 1st floor, has 2 bedrooms, LR, eat in kitchen and patio and porch. 4 guests maximum and sleeping on the couch is not allowed.
Other things to note…
The pros:
The Benjamin on Franklin is close to everything…shops, bars, restaurants, train, water sports.
Everything is brand new as of 12/22 (furniture, linens, lighting, kitchen items including glassware and utensils, etc.)
Front and back porch/patio are cool spots for sipping cocktails or coffee.
No need for a car if you don’t want to drive because everything is walking distance but plenty of parking if you do have cars.
Ability to rent both units for a larger group.
The cons (every property has them):
Close to 95. Like really close. However, once inside the house you won’t hear the traffic because of the brand new windows throughout.
The kitchens are compact but tables to eat in. Great for preparing and enjoying quick casual meals.
No smoking. No animals. No exceptions so PLEASE do not ask. My own poodle, a service animal, isn’t even allowed there because our guests expect an animal free environment.
Nightly rates are:
Riverside (2 bedroom) on main level: $168/night (sleeps 4)
Saugatuck (1 bedroom plus queen sleeper sofa) on 2nd floor: $125-$150/night
(Sleeps 4)
Rent both (with interior access option so feels like one unit) for larger groups : $375/night

Summary: This property met our needs perfectly! An older home, it has been updated with a soothing white and gray palette. It is very comfortable, warm and clean. The location is perfect-right around the corner from the Westport train station and some cool bars and eateries! We were able to visit our new granddaughter in Westport, our son in NYC, and our daughter took the train up to visit for the afternoon! We stayed for a week and will be back! Karena, the host, was a sweetheart and very easy to deal with! I forgot to mention-there is a parking spot in the driveway!

Summary: Karena is hands down the most responsive and helpful host! We contacted her to rent her property for a work trip. Karena responded almost immediately to ensure we had enough space for the amount people we were bringing. Her property matched the description given and was immaculate. Throughout our stay, if a question arose, she answered promptly. So many Restaurants available in the area both within walking distance or a short drive. Highly recommend!

Summary: I appreciate the communication with the host before during and after. Very responsive and helpful. You can tell she wants her guests to have a great experience. The unit was very clean, stocked with everything you need. The 2 bedrooms worked perfectly for my daughter and I to stay. We looked forward to coming home each night, the unit was just comfortable to be in.

Summary: We stayed for three weeks of weekdays. The place was perfect for our interim time, we walked to restaurants and the train. I’m so glad this place is in Westport! A great addition to the area! The beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked.

Summary: Very clean and comfortable with new appliances throughout. A little closer to I-95 than I would have liked and a constant drone of traffic whenever we had windows open. Communication with owner was first class. Guests upstairs were a tad heavy footed when moving about. Overall a pleasant stay though.

Summary: Our stay was exactly what we needed to spend a restful few days visiting with our family in Westport. The cottage was spotless and most comfortable, and had everything we could have needed. The neighborhood was walkable and offered a selection of wonderful restaurants. Our hostess dropped by for a visit to make sure we were happy. We hope to stay here again.
