Summary: Nice comfy cottage, not usually where we would choose to go for a week but it was local to Manchester and family. Really enjoyed it. Lovely walks around the reservoir and haigh woodland park. Nice scenery and plenty of nice pubs. Great base for visiting Manchester, Liverpool, formby and Chester. Summary: Lovely nice quiet place to stay in the countryside north of Wigan. The tranquil and very pretty Worthington Lakes can be walked via the back gate to the property. Ten minutes drive from the property is Gathurst railway station: free and plenty parking, with good connections to Manchester and Southport. Excellent walking nearby along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. Good shops and excellent café in nearby Standish.
