This summer (and spring and autumn) house is a real retreat on the second biggest yet undiscovered greek island of Evia. It is 150 km from Athens( by car + ferry boat) or 210 km (by car, crossing the Chalkis bridge) .It is situated on the slope of a small hill, it is surrounded by pine trees and has a wonderful view. It is 80 meters away from the sea. There are no discos, restaurants or coffee shops around, the beach is sandy and very quiet. It is 13 km away from Edipsos, a famous spa city known from antiquity.
The village Gialtra, where you can find most of the basic shops plus a pharmacy, is on the top of the hill, within walking distance (10 to 15 minutes).
The house itself is 70 sq.m it is furnished with taste but has no particular amenities. It is the ideal place for people who want to live for sometime in simplicity and enjoy nature, hiking (the place is surrounded by forests), swimming (the sea is very safe, as it is a small gulf) or surfing. Since this is a property offering an alternative way of life during one's vacation, there is no television and land line but we would be please to offer you wi fi connection upon request , if you need to stay in contact with civilisation A car is necessary! The house is composed of a living room with two balconies and an open kitchen, and two bedrooms(one with a double and one with twin beds). There is one bathroom with shower box. There are screens at all the windows and ventillators in the bedrooms.

Summary: Situated amidst tall pine trees, which are responsible for pleasant temperatures even on very hot days, on the slope of a hill, the house is the perfect place to relax and to recover from stress at work. Its front terrace affords a spectacular view over the bay with anchored fishing boats in the foreground, the sandy beach of a peninsula with a small lighthouse at its end – a good place within walking distance from the house (about five minutes) to swim and to look for shells - and the town of Loutra Aedipsou, famous for its hot mineral springs which flow directly into the sea, on the other side of the bay. The house is equipped with just about everything one might need during a holiday at one’s disposal ranging from a hammock and a deck chair, a sunbed, umbrellas, beach chairs and beach towels to a wifi connection, a map of the island, a guidebook and a fully equipped kitchen corner in the living room. The owners, who spend their weekends in an adjacent house, are very hospitable – the welcome gift in the form of tasty food from a local producer was very generous and delicious - and helpful without intruding and interfering with one’s privacy. Their instructions on how to reach the house and on where to find necessary facilities such as bakeries, butchers and tavernas in the vicinity are to the point and extremly helpful. In short: Because of its location in a quiet and peaceful corner on the incredibly green island of Evia, which is also a great place for hiking on forest roads, the house is an ideal place to spend one’s holidays: beaches with tavernas and sunbeds can be reached by car in about 10 minutes, and it is a perfect starting point for explorations of the northern part of Evia. Summary: Roula and her husband were wonderfully helpful, meeting us off a late ferry on our arrival, and guiding us to their lovely holiday home. Because the shops were shut, they'd left us a selection of local delicacies and brought fresh bread for Sunday breakfast. Despite being in high season, the village and nearby beaches were wonderfully quiet, and Roula's recommendation of the taverna of Aristea a kilometre or so up the coast was highly appreciated; great food and hospitality. A thoroughly recommended stay

Summary: We have just come back from Roula's beautiful holiday home, 139 steps from the sea in Gialtra, Greece. Roula's welcome made us feel very special and our daughter Grace aged 6 fell in love with Roula instantaneously . The holiday home is even more lovely than the pictures on the website. The cove where the home is situated is idyllic and peaceful. The view from the balcony is absolutely superb. We traveled in every direction around the area both up into the mountains where we found small family run tavernas with mouthwatering food and breathtaking views, and along the coast to find beautiful beaches with crystal clear water. Roula had left a wonderful information pack written herself and books about Evia that gave us plenty of advice. One of the best nuggets of information was the best taverna close by, Aristea. We became regulars,with wonderful friendly service and great food. We absolutely adored our holiday and we can't wait to go back next year. Something to look forward to through our cold wet winter!
