Positive: The location would be good in summer if you want to be near the beach. The apartment is set back behind a freeway but access to the beach was easy enough - about a 5-7 min walk. There are a few nearby beach places to eat at but better to walk further along the coastline towards the port for more choice. There was a metro stop around 10 mins walk away - easy enough to catch that and be in Plaça Catalunya in 20-25 mins. I picked this place mainly because it had great water views, lots of light and four bedrooms. The living area was big enough and a nice place to chill. It was very clean, the beds were comfy, the bedding looked pretty new and there was plenty of hot water. There was air-conditioning and a smart TV.
Negative: Location isn't that great if you want to be near the action of the old town. I felt like we spent a lot of time on the metro getting to and fro places. It's quite a sterile area immediately surrounding the apartment - a few basic cafés and small supermarkets but not much else and it's pretty dead at night. Basically you need to choose between being near the beach or the old town - you can't have both. NB The nearby freeway was really noisy - I was woken up each morning very early.... Re the apartment itself, I rated it good mainly because of size, cleanliness and water views but there were a few minor issues. The decor is quite dated, especially the kitchen - I would say that it does not quite live up to what would be expected for the rental price. One of the beds only had three legs (one had snapped off) - there was no way they could have made the bed up and not known this, as it tipped over with the slightest pressure. We didn't need that bed but it was in the way as we couldn't use it to put anything on it and ended up dragging it out into the hall. The toaster didn't work and only one of the two shower heads was usable so four of us were using the one bathroom for showers. Would have also liked more than one thinnish towel each. Lastly, the balcony furniture was cheap and uncomfortable. It just felt like the whole apartment needed a tad more attention.
Summary: Roomy & clean with good beach proximity. However, a bit dated and quite a way from the Old Town.
