Situated 300 yards from the beach this holiday home lies close to the village of Elmer and within half a mile along the beach of an area of outstanding natural beauty which stretches several miles from Elmer to Littlehampton. The beaches in this area remain quiet even during the busiest summer periods and with man made rock islands just off the shore and accessible at low tide, the beach is wonderful to explore and is ideal for swimming, fishing, windsurfing and walking. Elmer is an ideal location to explore many of the attractions of the south coast from bustling Brighton 25 miles to the east, to historic Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight to the west. In-between there are beautiful places such as Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, quaint Arundel, 5 miles to the north with its castle, river, antique shops, restaurants and famous wetland bird centre, Goodwood and Fontwell race courses and the beautiful South Downs are all close by. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Summary: Really enjoyed our mini break at Mussel Cottage, home from home. Relaxing with everything we needed. Excellent for our two dogs, who were very excited to explore the garden, completely enclosed and safe. Good communication with owner, would definitely like to return. Summary: My partner and I stayed at Mussel Cottage recently for a week with our dog. It was very comfortable and spacious, with all needs catered for and lots of thoughtful touches that made it well above the average holiday house. Lovely to have a woodburner available, though the weather was too warm to need it! It was great to have a secure and dog-friendly large garden available for the dog to run free in while we sat outside in the sunshine. Our one grumble would be that the bath towels supplied were rather old and scratchy, and could do with being replaced. The beach was very close and we had some wonderful walks, especially when the tide was low and there were huge areas of sand to walk on instead of shingle. It's also only a short drive to the South Downs Way, for upland/wilder walks, and to Chichester if you want some culture and a bit of shopping. I would certainly recommend Mussel Cottage as a place to stay, either for a couple or a family, and it is was great to find somewhere so dog-friendly. Summary: Lovely cottage, well equipped and enjoyed the homemade biscuits. Loved how close to the sea and the dog enjoyed the walk along the beach for coffee at the lobster pot café. The Elmer Indian does a good takeaway and the Elmer pub has good choice of beers and the food. Very happy to recommend Mussel cottage to anybody. Thank you.

Summary: We had a lovely stay at Mussel Cottage. We had a problem with the TV when we arrived so rang Adrian, the owner, who was miles away but he came to sort it straight away. Cottage was well equipped and comfortable, double bed was a bit too firm for me but it didn't spoil my holiday. Loved the fact that we could walk the dogs to the beautiful beach in 5-10 minutes. Would be happy to stay there again. The homemade biscuits were a lovely touch, thank you.
