Summary: A view out of a fairy tale, I know the area...had stayed here 10 years ago. However, cleanliness was an issue that disappointed. Dated and dirty furniture, needed direction from owner to find things. Safety issues getting to dock. Nothing like the sounds and sights at Five Islands!! I love it there!

Summary: The spacious screened porch alone beckons us back to this charming throwback home. Its birdseye vista of crazy-picturesque Five Islands harbor comes complete w a bustling osprey nest that needs no binoculars (though some are provided) and a stunning quiet punctuated by the soft hum of passing boats, the delighted bark of a dog sitting at the helm, seagulls arguing over a fish. We loved watching the lobstermen tend their traps in these cold, deep waters deemed lobster paradise. It all awakens the kayaker within, and so our family rented a fleet of singles and spent many happy hours paddling till our arms tired. It’s hard to say which was the bigger highlight: seeing dolphins splashing out of the water and seals popping their heads up around us or fetching lobster to go via kayak without fear of the fries getting cold. Nothing fancy about this house, but the necessary comforts are all there: the nap-worthy daybed with the picture window downstairs, COVID-era confidence in the home’s cleanliness, comfortable beds, windows catching the coastal breezes (offsetting a bit of mustiness), kindling & firewood for the fireplace (a happy luxury for evening chill even during our July stay), charcoal grill at the ready, an amply provisioned kitchen with plenty of lobster crackers in the drawer, an outdoor table where a family of six can play cards through a storm and enjoy their every meal on the porch. What a treat to enjoy lobster pulled moments before right from the waters beneath you, and to have the lobster wharf a quick walk away. What a bonus to have Reid State Park so close at hand—and a beach pass hanging on the fridge. Reid’s beautifully rugged mile-long beach gave us our sandy beach fix, w plenty of space for the kids to play beach soccer, and we enjoyed braving the brisk surf. It didn’t matter one bit that our pup wasn’t allowed on the beach because she got to swim herself silly fetching sticks in Reid’s pristine lagoons, which might just be the best Labrador—and kid—swimming hole anywhere. Betsy gave us a warm welcome and she and her family were helpful and responsive hosts, even inviting us to help ourselves to their inflatable boat right out of the box. Her guidance about being aware of changing tides and currents and making that grocery stop in Bath was spot on. All told, we are thankful to have found this Five Islands home.

Summary: We loved this home and the owners. We stayed right on the water. The dock is super easy to use. The walk into the town is so close. Such a quiet and relaxing spot. We swam, bikes, hiked and kayaked.

Summary: Had an outstanding week in this lovely old home. Spent every moment we could on the lovely screened porch that overlooked Little and Big Crow Islands and down towards the beautiful Five Islands Harbor. Home was lovely and well cared for. With 4 bedrooms and a full bath on both floors we had plenty of room for our family group of 5. Washer and dryer on site was wonderful. We kayaked every day on the Sheepscot tidal river which runs in front of the home -cormorants, ducks, herons, osprey- even a baby harbor seal popped his head out of the water right in front of us. Had a lovely dinner at Blue in Grey Havens Inn but mostly enjoyed the snack bar on the dock. They have homemade chowder and delicious sandwiches as well as fresh from the boat lobster with sides packed to take back to our table on the screened porch. Dock an easy and enjoyable walk from cottage. Drove to Freeport, Bath, Wiscasset, Boothbay and Fort Edgecomb. Played in the tide pools and on the sandy beaches of Reid State Park which less than a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Can't say enough good things about this lovely home and hope to stay again this coming summer.

Summary: This was the perfect spot for our far-flung family to come together. The grandkids (and their parents!) were thoroughly entertained fishing off the dock, riding bikes or walking to the harbor and near-by beach, or examining tide pools at gorgeous Reid State Park. We also made expeditions to Popham Beach, the Maine State Aquarium, and to visit new friends in Robinhood Cove. The house, as the photos demonstrate, is charming and comfortable, although I spendt as much time as possible in the rocker on the covered porch, traquilized by the view. The owners were very welcoming, and we all loved Jackson, the dog! We are definitely returning next year, hopefully for two weeks instead of one.

Summary: We had a wonderful time at this quaint cottage. Views are beautiful, the location was quite and somewhat secluded. The house had everything we needed. Five Islands Lobster was the best (we were there when they had just gone to Fall hours, weekends only). Location was good for day trips to lots of nice places in Maine. Betsy, the owner, was always responsive and available. Hope to visit again soon!

Summary: Great mini vacation. Listing was accurate. Property even better than photos. The property was spotless. Owner very very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend the property to anyone. Beautiful porch 2/3 screened and 1/3 open with great views of the water. Short pleasant walk to Five Islands Lobster Co. to eat one of "the big ones" while watching the lobster boats come in. Deep water dock available and lots of places to take great walks. Thumbs Up! Will definitely return next year....but will stay longer.
