Lovingly restored, the owners have kept lots of the original features, and the dining room has limed oak furniture. It is a perfect ’chocolate box’ cottage. This is a perfect property for holidaymakers having a family mix of all ages: there are three bedrooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor. There is also disabled access to the garden. All the rooms are spacious and light, and with the extra living room, it is ideal for families to have their own space. The cottages are set amongst the beautiful country estate of Thorpe Hall, a magnificent retreat in the Yorkshire Wolds and situated in Rudston, near Bridlington. The Hall is a Grade II building which was built in the early 1700s and is still very much a working estate, and it forms an important part of the local community. The local village of Rudston is less than a mile away, where the churchyard contains the monolith from which the village gets its name (Rood Stane). The cottage is situated a mile from the village, where you will find a small shop along the way.
The nearest town is Bridlington just over 4 miles away, and from there you have access along the east coast from Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, right down to the resort of Hornsea. The area has lots of stately homes to visit, including Sewerby Hall, which is only a few minutes drive away, a fine example of an early Georgian residence and renowned for its gardens and a zoo. Castle Howard and Burton Agnes Hall are also just a short drive away. Flamborough Head and RSPB Bempton Cliffs are 15 minutes by car, and boast fantastic opportunities to observe puffins, gannets, dolphins and seals in their natural habitat. Along the coast at Scarborough, you have the Stephen Joseph Theatre which is known for its premieres of almost all of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. It also boasts the largest open air theatre in Europe. During your stay, why not try some real country pursuits, such as coarse fishing or trying out some of the many bridleways across the estate; you are very close to Fraisthorpe where you can ride along the beach. Guests can have free livery and grazing for their horses, just bring the food and bedding! There’s so much to see and do at Thorpe Hall and it’s all within easy reach, and from February 2018 you can rent a hot tub for your stay (contact the owner direct for details). The owner is very proud to offer a tour and history of the grounds to all guests (subject to availability). Beach 4 miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub 3 miles, restaurant 1 mile.
The Garden Cottage (UK2094), Stable Cottage 1 (CC253023), Laundry Cottage (CC253025) and The Hayloft (UK49340) can be booked together to accommodate up to 24 guests.

Summary: This property is totally geared up for the comfort of my 94 year old mum who has dementia as well as the rest of the family which made it a brilliant holiday for all of us. We were even offered to have mum taken on a sensory tour of the estate free of charge which ment a lot to us that mums needs had been thought about. This was our second visit to this place and will be booking again in the future. Well done .

Summary: We wanted somewhere where we could have a pre-Christmas get-together with family and friends and Garden Cottage fitted the bill superbly. Not only is it situated in a quiet, picturesque, rural location it is also large, spacious, cosy, extremely well-equipped and able to accommodate all age groups very comfortably. We have no hesitation in recommending it and are already looking forward to a return visit!

Summary: We had such a great time that we've booked to go again next year, we've never had a family holiday in the same place twice! The house was well equipped for a large family of 11 with one of us being a full time powered wheelchair user, and we also had a 6 month old baby. The garden was accessible, with a purpose built wheelchair space in the picnic bench. The inside table is a bit small but fortunately we mainly ate outside. There are local walks for those without mobility issues. Bridlington beach has beach wheelchairs available which meant that we could all go on the beach together. The local RSPB centre had off road mobility scooters for hire, again another whole family day out.

Summary: We all had a lovely family holiday, 7 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs. The weather could have been better but after following an extremely hot week it didn't concern us at all. Not only are there lots of walks and plenty of places to visit , the scenery is beautiful. Garden Cottage is amongst the best places we have stayed . It is the sort of house that welcomes you and you immediately feel comfortable. Each bedroom having its own bathroom is a great bonus. We all slept very well in the comfy beds and would rate the cottage 5 plus stars. Just after we arrived Jayne came to meet us, a lovely lady and a few days later the owner came to say hello and gave us some more useful information about the area. There was a welcome pack and a pot of delicious honey, thank you . It is difficult to find a property that suits the whole family of 3 generations but we certainly did this time.

Summary: Wonderful cottage in a fabulous setting. The disabled access bedroom was a little tight for space when my Uncle was using his wheelchair. But we made it easier by moving one of the beds....one bed would have been easier. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend. The garden was a sheer joy to spend time in.

Summary: What a lovely cottage, which is so well equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is just perfect with so many places on the doorstep and lots of activities for the kids. The cottage and it's grounds are immaculate and the campsite is the best kept I've ever seen. We hired a hot tub from the recommended company and it was fantastic - really made the stay!
