Experience this beautiful and recently updated modern cottage with log cabin vibes. The home sits on a private wooded lot, which has a dock on the historic Au Sable River, and is located in the township of Grayling, Michigan.
Grayling is one of the best areas for fishing, canoeing and kayaking (Equipment rental is available downtown). It is home to Michigan's largest State Park in the lower peninsula - Hartwick Pines. There you can find hiking, bike trails, bird watching and much more.
Snowmobile and ORV trails are within riding distance from the cabin.
Hansen Hills is a five minute drive away and offers a bit of winter fun for a quick ski or tubing trip. The Otsego Resort and the Treetops Resort are only a short, 20 minute commute north. Or enjoy a day trip to Boyne Mountain Resort which is a 45 minute drive.
This home is in a great location for the golf enthusiast as well. There are 8 golf courses within 20 miles of Grayling, Michigan. These include the very popular Forest Dunes and the Treetops resort.
Downtown Grayling is a vibrant, growing little area that has shopping, dining and fun breweries.

Summary: We stayed for a weekend bachelorette party. The house is in the woods on the AuSable(very peaceful), but also super close to downtown Grayling for restaurants/grocery runs. Could see fish rising from the dock! Floated down the Upper Manistee one afternoon with ShelHaven rentals. At the house, we spent a lot of time hanging out in the screened in porch. Inside was very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed in terms of pots/pans/dinnerware. No regular coffee pot, but had a Keurig. Bar size ice machine in the kitchen!!! Very large fridge. Separate large freezer. Large island with seating around it and dinner table to eat at. I was a little nervous about previous comments about the cameras on the property before the stay. There was 1 ring camera at the front door…that is all. If I was renting out my beautiful home to strangers I would have a camera as well to see who is coming & going for liability/safety purposes. Not unusual at all for VRBO/rental properties. I am not sure why previous reviewers made such a big deal about this. We loved it! Thank you!!

Summary: This house was a great home-base for a long weekend of activities around the Grayling area. The house had a perfect mix of cabin charm and feel and modern comfort! Caught a couple of fish from the river very near the dock at the house. Communication with the owner was easy and timely, they were able to accommodate a couple of special requests with some communication up front.

Summary: Log cabin feel with updated amenities. Well stocked kitchen with nice cookware, spices, paper products, foil, and dishes. We are used to having nothing supplied. A nice surprise to not have to buy spices. Secluded view of the river. Hotel quality beds and linens made for a peaceful nights sleep. Plenty of space with 4 bedrooms, large vaulted ceilings central room and large kitchen. Large screen, Internet ready TV made logging in to watch shows or casting from device easy. Will stay here again.

Summary: Beautiful, spacious home with lots of amenities and privacy overlooking the river. A bit of noise from the freeway in the background. Enjoyed the opportunity to view the Milky Way. Very relaxing.

Summary: What a great cabin on the river! We have been going to various MI locations for 5 years+ with the same family. We all agreed (Adults and Kids) this was by the far the best cabin! The cleanliness of the cabin was a delight! We enjoyed the sun room and large yard for games. The scenic Au Sable was lovely to enjoy while we had our morning coffee. We did attempt to go tubing but it was rather chilly and rained that day so instead we stayed in. Even in the rain we had a lot of fun. 8 of us stayed indoor for a card game in the beautiful kitchen! The appliances and all amenities were top notch! Well stocked and honestly a great place to be! We did enjoy Paddle Hard Brewing downtown and some Cute shops too! But the best time has by all was right at the cabin! Highly recommend checking out this lovely place - my guess is the fall colors make an even more spectacular view!!! Thank you for sharing this property with our families.
