Stunning 19th century mountain barn over 5500sqft large. Close to 4 ski-resorts. Ideal for 2 to 5 families or group of friends sharing holidays and weekends!
This secluded barn is located halfway on its own private 300 acres mountain, with breath-taking views and unmatched privacy. A private 3 mile hiking trails takes you from the Barn, at 2300ft, to a mountain top at 3200 ft, through wild woods & following a historic carriage road.
In winter, Belleayre and Plattekill mountain are 10 miles away, Hunter and Windham 25 miles. In Summer, Pine Hill lake/beach, Wawaka lake, and several golf courses are within 15 min away. Pepacton Reservoir offers canoeing, fishing and other water sports.
Great entertaining space guarantees memorable moments: 2500sqft open living space, includes open kitchen, bar -, dining -, tatami -, sofa and TV areas, two large fire places, stone pizza oven (not for use in mid summer), large windows, and ceilings up to 40ft!4 bedrooms, 2 lofts, 3 bathrooms with showers and 2 Japanese tubs. 2.5 hours from New York (GW bridge). Winter: 4WD/AWD required for last 0.7miles.
NEW for 2020: High-speed internet. MINIMUM RENTER AGE is 25 years old. Unique location for small and intimate family celebrations. Please NO PROM inquiries.
* Hill in front of Barn is perfect for sledding or snow-tubing. Our property is also great for cross country ski-in/ski-out.
* Private, hiking trails on property. Barn is at 2300ft, but trails go up to 3200ft.
* Winter hikes are magnificent (bring or rent snow-shoes).
* Belleayre ski-resort and uncrowded Plattekill Mountain (Kids ski for free!) are each a 15 minute drive away (10miles). Hunter and Windham 25 miles away.
* We provide maps with hiking trails in Catskill State park. Our favorite: Giant Ledge and Balsam Mountain Loop Trail.
* Cable TV and High-speed internet.

Summary: My friends and I stayed here for my wedding weekend, and it was absolutely awesome! It’s such a unique spot—perfect for a large group with plenty of space for everyone to hang out without feeling cramped. The fully stocked kitchen made it easy to cook a big meal for the whole group, and we felt right at home. The views are stunning, and it’s hands down the coolest place we’ve ever stayed. The hosts were fantastic and super flexible with check-in and check-out, which made everything even better. It was an amazing experience all around!

Summary: Beautiful big barn on a tremendous property. Driveway is challenging if you don't have an SUV. Internet spotty. Very remote - but has beautiful vistas. Would go again when not so busy coordinating wedding stuff. Loved the way the barn was converted into a living space. The tatami dining area is super cool.

Summary: We had the absolute best time staying at the Choco Barn last weekend. We had a decent sized group and truly enjoyed the amount of space, the many comfortable places to hang out, and the many rooms to choose from. The kitchen had all of the necessary utensils to cook our meals, including a really nice stove and a charcoal grill in the yard. The best part of this stay is absolutely the big barn doors opening to what I assume to be one of the best views in the whole Catskills. We highly recommend this home for a quiet, but beautiful get away.

Summary: Perfect! My wife, myself, 3 children, spouses and 6 grandchildren have been doing week long ski vacation for the past several years. This year we had the pleasure of renting “Rita’s Barn.” It more than met our expectations. Rita’s description of the whole property is a bit understated. The bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms and recreational areas were perfect for the 14 people in 3 generations. The ski and tubing areas at Belleayre and Plattekill were easily accessible as was Goatie Whites family restaurant. In the past, the family always voted to try a new area. This year, the family unanimously voted to return to The Barn. The 14 of us all recommend this property without reservation - it is perfect!
