8 Bedroom House in Laprade

Beautiful 150 year old manor house located on the Charente, Dordogne border. Situated less than a mile from the stunning village of Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne, famous for its subterranean church dating back to the 7th century. The village has numerous restaurants and bars, a river beach with snack bar, river swimming, and canoe hire.
St Antoine Cumond is a typically French village approximately half a mile away. There is one restaurant and bar which serves excellent food and hospitality.
The house is 45 minutes from Bergerac airport and just over 1 hour from Bordeaux airport.
All 8 bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the additional ground floor bathroom has a bath, very useful for children. The bedrooms have removable screens for the windows and each room has a fan and UK styles sockets available as well as the traditional French sockets.
The house has a large lounge able to accommodate everyone, with English satellite TV, DVD player, CD player and amplifier.
With a very large fully equipped kitchen including American style Fridge freezer with ice making facilities, range cooker, microwave and dishwasher.
Large dining table.
Wifi and a sonos music system is available in the house.
The ground floor of the house has a total floor area of approximately 100sq metres
The first floor and top floor have a space of approximately 63sq metres

The lovely local river beach at Aubeterre, 1.5km, which has river swimming and diving, with lifeguards during the summer months, a good snack bar and ample picnicking spots and children's playground to enjoy.
Within an hours drive are many attractions including Caves, the lovely village of Brantome, plus Cognac and St Emilion with tours and sampling. The coast and many other attractions slightly further afield.

Summary: Great location not far from Aubetere and the river beach. House is secluded, lots of privacy and open space for the kids to run around. River frontage is amazing and the canoes were a great addition. Lots of garden toys, bikes and things to play with. Pool was clean and secure from access to small children. House was equipped with everything you need to cook and bbq. air con for the upstairs rooms was perfect for the hot nights. Overall this place was great and the host very helpful.

Summary: Our extended Family included 11 adults and 2 children under 7 and the house and location had everything to keep everyone happy and entertained. The house was spacious and very well equipped for large numbers and we enjoyed a great welcome from Ian and Moira and a very generous case of wine, beers and milk to get the party started. The outdoor space was truly amazing, a pool, an enormous barn with table tennis, bikes and basket ball, a stunning walnut tree which provided plenty of dappled shade with comfy sun loungers. We enjoyed some meals in the front garden , and some BBQ’s in the back where the river runs through. The kayaks were a great success with many trips out and the children delighted in seeing the cows come into the river for a drink and cool down twice a day ! So much to do nearby as well, the river beach was a hit, the oldies had a great trip to Brantome and the boys enjoyed a couple of rounds of golf nearby. We ventured out 1 evening for a delicious meal in the square at Aubeterre. Highly recommended.

Summary: For the 40th wedding anniversary of my parents, we rented this wonderful house. It is perfect for families. We were there with four couples, of whom three had children ages 0-7. We especially enjoyed the large kitchen, the outdoor space and that all rooms had an ensuite bathroom. Aubeterre sur drone is a nice little village, to visit other interesting places you usually have to drive at least 45 minutes. That is, i think, the only disadvantage i can mention. We enjoyed our stay very much and i must say, the photos of the house on this site don’t do it full justice! It is a very large, great house.

Summary: In these unpredictable times, our long awaited holiday destination exceeded our expectations. The house was wonderful - comfortable, spacious and homely with facilities provided which we made good use of. A choice of outside eating areas and places to relax. We didn’t need to go far and and all felt it was a perfect week.

Summary: Great location for this charming house, large enough to accommodate a big group, keeping the privacy for everyone. Confortable and well kept. Not only a house to stop to sleep but a house to enjoy, prepare meals and relax. Great communication with the owners, house information very helpful, but what really makes the difference is the details from the owners, these thoughtful touches that make you feel really welcome at their place. There is not a lot of activity in the village in winter, but it is beautiful anyway and there are a lot of places to visit around. Thanks to Ian and Moira, for making this end of the year a great experience for all my family. A recommander sans hésiter, très belle maison, bien équipée, propriétaires à l’écoute. Tout en anglais. Gran casa en un lugar ideal, perfectamente equipada. Los dueños cuidan todos los detalles y hacen todo lo posible para hacerte sentir bienvenido. Todo en inglés. Buen momento para practicarlo!

Summary: Good facilities for children and families inside and out. Well stocked kitchen. Location great for walking into Aubeterre and river access. Some issues with power tripping and boiler not coming on but overall enjoyable stay. Aubeterre Sue Dronne is beautiful.

Summary: The property was large enough to accommodate 12 of us comfortably with space for more. The location is great, Aubeterre very pretty town with everything you need. We enjoyed the small market and also buying veg from the local farmer. The house is lovely, welcoming and very comfortable with everything you need. The grounds are exceptional, really beautiful, with lots of space and comfy chairs to relax, a big table for group outdoor eating and of course access to the river. Our group enjoyed early morning cycling and kayaking and found a great spot nearby where a swing enables you to jump off into the river. It was exceptionally hot when we were there which was challenging , but despite the extreme weather a great time was had by all and we really felt we would like to come back here regularly, it is such a great house for large groups who enjoy being active.

Summary: We were 12 adults, ages from 54 to 90. We all had very comfortable bedrooms and were delighted to find toiletries in the bathrooms - such a thoughtful touch. The comfortable sitting room, hall and very well equipped kitchen are all large, so that there was always somewhere to sit quietly if needed. The gardens are large and the barn contains all that one could wish for in the way of sunbeds etc. So delightful to be on the banks of the river, where full use was made of the canoes stored in the boathouse. The situation of Chez Brun is perfect, within walking distance of Aubeterre sur Dronne which is a 'Petite Cite de Caractere'.. The details supplied once our booking was completed were very informative and enabled us to fully enjoy Chez Brun and the surrounding lovely countryside.

Summary: Lovely house and garden, great to have a pool and river accesses in the garden. The house is only a short walk, bike ride or Canoe from Aubeterre-sur-Dronne it was great to have use off bikes and Canoes at the property for the morning trip to the Boulangerie or an evening beer in the square. We were a group of 5 couples with small children so didn't venture very far from the house but there was plenty to do and see within the area. The kitchen was very large and all the bedrooms were a very good size and great to have an on suit bathroom in everyone. The home owners were very good at getting back to me quickly with information about the house. It was a great trip.
