'Chez Briar and Michel' - This spacious four bedroom traditional Beaujolais house, set among the Beaujolais vineyards, has exclusive use of a pool which averages 24-29°C, cottage garden and shady courtyard with roses around the door.
The house was originally built over the wine cellars, adjacent to the owners home, to accommodate the 'vigneron' (wine maker) who tended the property's vineyard and wine making. Wine no longer being made on the property has enabled us to convert the old press room, 6 x 7m, into a ground level kitchen, dining and sitting room with French windows opening out onto the court yard and out door dining area. There's also a log burner making this a cosy holiday let for the Beaujolais Nouveau week in November, Christmas or New Year.
The house, which has all modern comforts, offers wonderful panoramic views of the Beaujolais hills from every window, and the garden opens out onto the vineyards with views as far as the Mont Blanc. The style is traditional, with the charm only authentic antique furnishings could bring.
The property has three acres of Gamay vines which were previously tended by the owners who produced a Beaujolais Villages and is now managed by a producer of organic 'vin naturel'.
The pool is open during peak and mid season April to September, closing for low season from October to March.
Kitchen - fully equipped including dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee machine, fridge/freezer and iron. The adjacent dining/sitting room area has TV satellite and BBC channels.
Bedroom 1 - main double room (blue)
Bedroom 2 - triple room (yellow) plus cot, ideal for a family. This room communicates with bedroom 1.
Bedroom 3 - has both a double and twin beds (green).
Bedroom 4 - has a double bed (red) and private bathroom.
All beds are extra wide and each room has air-conditioning.
Three bath/shower rooms in total
OUTSIDE:
Pool is 10 x 5 meters with Roman steps for easy access. exclusive use and averages 26-29°C.
Garden and court yard have various choices of shaded seating and sunbathing areas with cushions, large shady Gazebo etc.
Large grassy area for football etc
EXTRA INFORMATION:
Bed linen, bath towels, pool towels are included - all cotton. All household products and a welcome pack of breakfast items are offered.
The owners invite you for a wine tasting at your convenience. Dinner can be provided on request.
The village baker’s, butcher’s, and supermarket are open Sunday morning for getting in supplies, as is Villefranche fresh produce market. So you need only pack your personal items – don’t forget the flip flops!
There is ping-pong, basket ball, a book case, box games and a toy box. 4 adult and 2 teenage mountain bikes, plus swings and various pedal toys for younger ones.
Restaurant and shops at walking distance, less than 1km - on the flat!
The pool is open during mid and peak season, closing from end September until the following April, depending on the weather.

Summary: We had a wonderful week’s stay in this very comfortable house. Comfortable beds in good-sized bedrooms. Very nice pool and pool area with plenty of loungers. So nice to have pool towels provided. Everything we needed in general and very nice extras like bicycles, table tennis, boules. Michel was very kind and helpful. Beautiful area with lots to see, we need to go back! A bit of noise from the road but that is made up for by the short distance to the village. Definitely recommend this property!

Summary: Had a lovely time here. Michael and Briar are really helpful and give great instructions. They even booked our dogs mandatory vet appointment which was really kind. The property is lovely rooms are all great size and air conditioning in all bedrooms which was fantastic. The photos are accurate but actually when in the house it is even nicer than the impression the photos give. The pool is great good temperature and lots of sun loungers and seating. Lots of things such as boules , table tennis, toys and books. We'll definitely come again.

Summary: We have just returned from what we all agreed was one of our best holidays ever, and Domaine de la Fleur de Bruyere was the chief reason for that. A beautiful home with vineyards coming up to the door, there is a spot to relax in the extensive gardens and pool area for every time of day and evening, sun or shade. We shall not forget the dramatic sunrises and sunsets. The house is so comfortable and well equipped it feels as though you are staying in someone's home and they just walked out - in fact they probably have, as the welcoming owners live in the other wing, never obtrusive but always on hand with advice, help and friendly conversation. We very much enjoyed a couple of evenings in their company. We were three and occasionally four couples - parents, sons and partners, plus friends - but would love to come again perhaps when we are three generations. It would be perfect for children too. An absolute gem of a place.

Summary: We stayed for two weeks with our young kids, our parents, and several sets of friends who came through for a few days. The house was comfortable for all with plenty of rooms and privacy. We cooked most nights in the well appointed kitchen and greatly enjoyed the lovely garden. But the pool was extraordinary! The pool deck has shade and plenty of chairs, the pool is covered so it’s warm and clean, and we swam almost every day. Michel, the owner, was friendly and helpful, but also gave us space. He helped our fiends whose car blew a tire to find a mechanic to fix it, which saved the day. I highly recommend this lovely home.

Summary: A wonderful gîte. This past week has been very memorable for all the right reasons. We had everything we could possibly need… and more. Location, facilities and equipment was first class. Michel, our host was unobtrusive but always on hand for any advice and suggestions on places to visit, restaurants and particularly the local wine and vineyards.
