Positive: We enjoyed our stay at Casa do Pai Carlos. We stayed there with two couples with children on our trip through Portugal. The house is spacious and located in the center of the village. Aveiro can be reached in 15 minutes by car. Porto is about 1 hour away. You can also take the train as the station is not far away. The car can be parked inside, which is very convenient thanks to the automatic gate. As the house is located in a village away from the main road, it is very quiet during the day and at night. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a fridge and a freezer, so there is plenty of space for food. The large dining and living room is right next to the kitchen. There is also a barbecue in the courtyard. I particularly liked the garden behind the house. Here you can set up your hammock between the trees and enjoy some me time. The bedrooms in the main house are large and comfortable and have their own bathrooms, which was ideal for the privacy of the couples. The children were in the adjoining house, which also has two bedrooms and a bathroom. The swimming pool is ideal for children, but it is too small for adults to swim. However, there is a great calisthenics park in the neighboring village, which is great to combine with a run. The beautiful Bioria Park, which is only a five-minute walk from the house, is ideal for an evening stroll. João was a great host who provided us with all the information we needed and was always available via whatsapp.
Negative: The barking dogs were quite annoying, especially at night. And I wouldn't recommend this place if you don't have a car but that's not really a negative thing.
Summary: If you want a spacious and quiet home in a remote area then this a good place for you.
