Tucked away in a rural hamlet near the village of St Quentin les Chardonnets, La Cidreraie forms part of a traditional old farmhouse, which nestles in the heart of the leafy, ‘bocage’ countryside that so typical of Lower Normandy.
La Cidreraie has a downstairs living are with cooking facilities, dining table and chairs and a comfortable sofa. Wi-Fi is available but please note that there is NOT A TELEVISION in the accommodation
Upstairs the mezzanine bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite shower / toilet.
This gite overlooks a pleasant garden with fruit trees and flowers where you can relax and listen to the sound of birds singing.
The quaint little town of Tinchebray is just 5 kms away and the bustling market towns of Vire and Flers are within easy reach. There are pleasant walks right on our doorstep and opportunities for fishing, horse riding, kayaking and other leisure activities available locally. For the children there are waterfalls to picnic by, lakes with paddle boats and several zoos are a short drive away.
Of course a holiday is not a holiday without a trip to the seaside and lovely sandy beaches can be reached in a little over an hour.
You are within easy reach of destinations such as Mont Saint Michel, the D-Day Beaches and Bayeux.

Summary: Our stay was so very relaxing and peaceful. Alison is a welcoming and thoughful host and was happy to answer our questions or have a friendly chat. The accomodation is clean and comfortable and has a charming decor. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is very comfortable, and there are lovely fluffy towels to wrap up in after a nice, hot shower. The gardens are beautiful and the setting is so quiet all you can hear is bird song.

Summary: Was my first trip to France. I really like my little flat crowded by cows and lovely people. Alison is a nice host, with good tips for nearby. I extend for one night, because I liked it so much. Check Vire with Normandie Museum nearby. Good for Day trips to Omaha Beach, Le Mont St Michel and Granville. Summary: A hidden gem in lovely rolling countryside. We were looking for our perfect location to enjoy walks or cycle. Alison, is the perfect host, provides excellent accommodation in a fantastic location that gave us everything we were looking for. Walks from the Gite or to travel short distances to well signed routes are amazing with varying scenery wherever you go. Suisse Normandy certainly is exceptional as is the area surrounding the Gite. Such a lovely place to relax and enjoy the quiet of the countryside. Exceptional. Thanks Alison.

Summary: We had the fortunate pleasure of getting to stay at Alison's for a month. She is a fantastic host and we enjoyed all our chats. The gite was exactly what we were looking for. It is a good combination of rural, beautiful grounds, not too far from town, and simple yet functional accommodation. Some days we were very happy just walking the peaceful country roads and visiting the cows. We based there to tour much of lower Normandy, and we were okay with driving an hour or more any direction, however you will want to budget extra for petrol if you want to hit the big name sites like we did. If you prefer to just stay around the area, Tinchebray and Vire have everything you need. At the gite, we appreciated Alison's idea of separately billing for excess electricity usage beyond a normal amount. This allows her to keep the nightly rate very economical for all guests, and a little more for those with heavy power consumption. We found the entire experience to be an incredible bargain for how lovely it all was. We hope to return.
