Summary: July 4th The main entrance lock box would not unlock, had to use the side entrance. Upon entering you could feel the air was not on. Outside it was 88 degrees, inside the home at 5pm- the thermostat showed 83. Adjusted the nest thermostat and within 20 mins, we knew the unit was in need of repair. Called the host 2x, no answer. Sent text & he admitted the dial was broken. Stated he would adjust it remotely, asked us to give it time. Toured property- Amenities need care. The outdoor fridge from photos doesn’t work, the hot tub from the photos was missing, outdoor lights had a short needed to be reset, grill was clearly recently used, pool was GREEN & MURKY, indicating bacteria/Algae, slide had mold. Took pictures. Informed him over the course of the night that with the family in the house the temperature was going up, not down. He advised that we continue to give it time, and that it showed it was set on his end. Since the dial was broken in the house, and his phone was showing he set the temperature I downloaded a thermometer app on my phone that read the room to confirm what we were seeing on the dial. It showed 85 feels like 88. Informed the owner, sent him pictures. Advised him he get someone out to look at the property. Informed him we could not stay. Owner said they would provide a refund. Ghosted after stating that. Called VRBO with documentation of issues and statements regarding refund. VRBO did nothing. Essentially stated they can not help renters once checked in.
