A Poolside Paradise is a beautiful, renovated 2 bedroom, 1 bath second-floor entry end unit villa located in the oceanfront Villa by The Sea Resort (VBTS). This 17-acre resort is located on the north side of Jekyll Island directly adjacent to the world-famous Driftwood Beach which ranks #3 in the US and #12 in the world by TripAdvisor’s “Best of the Best Beaches”. Directly across the road is Horton Pond, a natural habitat that is perfect for bird watching and seeing other wildlife.
When you enter the villa, you will find a bright and open floorplan living room, dining area and fully equipped kitchen with a Keurig coffee maker. Sliding glass doors lead to a balcony overlooking the large outdoor pool with peek-a-boo views of the ocean. The living room has a media cabinet with a flat screen 50-inch TV offering Direct TV, state of the art Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating.
On the second level you will find a large main bedroom with a queen-size bed with plenty of storage for clothes in drawers and the closet. There is also a flat screen TV. This room features sliding doors leading to a small balcony overlooking the pool with more views of the ocean. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds for the kids or extra guests, along with a flat screen TV. Our Villa is family friendly and comes with a Pack-n-Play and booster highchair seat. A large, shared hall bathroom has been beautifully remodeled and updated featuring 2 sinks and a tub/shower combo.
For your convenience, the resort has a restaurant and tavern, as well as a business center and snack/gift shop (open 24 hours/day). Gas and charcoal grills are steps from the unit, right next to the pool. Our villa is just steps away from the boardwalk and pavilion, which has many chairs for you to sit and enjoy stunning ocean views.
Children can enjoy the Pirate Ship playground and the kiddie pool. Families can enjoy playing basketball, volleyball, and cornhole at the resort. The resort also has a fitness room, bike rentals, and discounted golf tickets.
The island abounds with natural beauty; over two thirds of the island is protected habitat of beautiful live oak trees and marshes. Birds and wildlife (including alligators) abound. Jekyll Island is close enough for day trips to Cumberland Island, St. Simons Island, the Okefenokee Swamp, Jacksonville, and Savannah. Jacksonville Airport is one hour away.
The island boasts three 18-hole golf courses, a tennis center, twenty-five miles of bike/walking paths and a fishing pier. Tours of the historic district, the beautiful Gilded Age “cottages", and Mosaic Museum are available. Other activities include the Tidelands Nature Center, Guided Kayak Tours, Horseback riding, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, and the Summer Waves water park.

This unit includes linens, a starter set of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, and some personal amenity items (note that these items will not be replenished during your stay).

Summary: My family of four had a wonderful stay in this villa. The property was clean, and readily available when instructed it would be. Check-in and check-out were both a breeze. My only critique is the listing indicates a washer/dryer on site. The listing should specify there is coin laundry available at the Villas By the Sea, but not within the unit itself. Also, there is no coin machine available in the laundry area, so plan ahead and bring quarters if you require laundry services while staying.

Summary: We enjoyed the stay and would go back again. Very relaxing and easy to get to the pool and beach. We don’t like crowds and heavy commercialization so this was a great speed for us. Overall, the place seemed to be clean and in good condition. However, one of the twin beds obviously had not had fresh sheets. There was hair and nasal material left behind. Unfortunately, we arrived on Sunday and there is no one available from Parker Kaufman on Sundays and Villas By the Sea doesn’t manage this unit. I was able to track down Villas staff and they graciously provided a fresh set of sheets…not a major deal but sheets is one of THE most obvious and easiest things to ensure are clean and ready to go. It wasn’t worth making a fuss over, mistakes happen. We would go back again. We probably would consider booking directly through VBTS next time just for convenience of on-site staff should needs arise next time.

Summary: This property was wonderful! We had a great time enjoying the pool and beach access. It was located close enough to walk to Driftwood Beach (gorgeous, and a MUST) and also not a far drive from shops and dining. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back!

Summary: The condo was perfect for our stay with two grandkids. Close to everything and the pool was a huge plus. The condo and complex were very clean and comfortable. Easy access to restaurants and beaches. Everyone we encountered were helpful and friendly.

Summary: This is the 3rd time my husband & I have stayed in a villa on Jekyll Island; this property is our favorite so far! It felt like home. Everything was perfect -- the decor, the amenities, the space. We had plenty of room to relax, & the glimpses of the ocean from both floors were a treat for me. We had an absolutely incredible vacation; staying in this villa was an integral part of that.

Summary: This condo was perfect for our little family . It was less then five minutes to walk to the beach it had a nice covered sitting area on the beach with chairs so you can sit and view the ocean . The condo had two small balconies that over look the pool one is upstairs in the master bedroom the other downstairs in the living room area. The condo had plenty of space for all four of us! The beds could of been a little softer but that wasn’t deal breaker. Overall we will come back!
