A beautiful old farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 1880 farmhouse sits on a small stream that runs through the entire fifty-five acre property. The house is clean, minimally decorated, with pasture views out of every window.
The farm is located 80 miles from Washington DC and is just down the road from Sperryville, Old Rag Mountain, Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive and other local attractions.
There are two bedrooms. In the master bedroom there is as queen bed and there are two twin beds in the second bedroom. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is a large library of classical literature. There is a living room with a baby grand piano and a studio that opens onto a fifty-foot screened porch.
Walnut Run Farm is the perfect getaway, a private sanctuary, the ideal spot for rest and relaxation.

Summary: This lovingly restored farm house was the perfect spot from which to explore the Shenandoah Park and to visit the charming towns in the area including Little Washington and Middleburg. The well-equipped kitchen served us well for preparing dinners after our day's exploration.

Summary: We had an amazing time at John's farmhouse. We wanted to get out of the city for a little nature therapy, and we couldn't have been happier at the farmhouse. Hiking during the day and chilling on the patio in the evening -- surrounded by big beautiful trees, lush green rolling hills, the sounds of nature, and lots of history. We also loved checking out John's art, which is on display throughout the house.While the farmhouse itself is (of course) old, it still has all the modern amenities you might want or need. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfortable, and any toiletries or supplies you might have forgotten are there. John was very responsive (and super accommodating with a couple special requests that we had). My friend was also happy to be able to bring her sweet dog for the weekend.I couldn't recommend the place more!

Summary: We had an amazing weekend at John's farmhouse. The old farmhouse has so much character and the antiques were just wonderful. Watching the sunrise every morning come over the mountain was just amazing. If you are looking to get away to a place that's quiet, peaceful and tranquil then you need to stay at John's. The creek runs through the property and is a lovely walk. We will definitely be coming back.

Summary: Very relaxing stay in a period style farm house. The homeowner’s art is displayed throughout his house and took us a few minutes to acclimate to his style but was very comfortable during our stay.

Summary: The four of us came to John's place with different needs: the kids wanted open space to fly a little plane they received at Christmas, my husband wanted to be close enough to a coffee shop and I wanted hilly open space and a house with charm. Incredibly we all found what we were looking for. It was the perfect spot for us. We also highly appreciated John's overall kindness and ways of communication.

Summary: This was the perfect place for my family to celebrate my wife's birthday. The house has a ton of old charm with a unique style and flair. My daughters loved the library, the art, and the creek. Close to hiking at Old Rag, wineries, orchards, markets and dining in Sperryville. John was a very thoughtful and responsive property manager. Book it!

Summary: The house and property are beautiful and so peaceful! Only 5 minites to Sperryville and 20 minutes to Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive! The beds were so comfy, the kitchen well stocked, and the furniture was classic. The art everywhere is thought provoking and intriguing! We loved our stay at Jonathan's house!

Summary: This 1880 farmhouse was a perfect getaway. The farm is close to several wineries, Shenandoah National Park and 80 miles from Washington D.C. We spent most of our mornings on the large screened in porch drinking coffee while listening to the exchange of songs sung by the native birds. The house is well preserved with original wavy glass windows and hardwood floors throughout. If you are a chef or strive to be, the kitchen is well stocked with just about every utensil you can imagine. Sleeping was not an issue with the lullaby of crickets in a beautiful, comfortable bed. Great communication with the host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
