Negative: We would like to start on a positive note: the stay had a unique location in a valley surrounded by beautiful nature and the abbey. In other words, the property has a lot of potential. However, we were quite disappointed by the hygiene upon arrival. We found hair in the shower and on the sheets, as well as insects and dust. It seemed as though the property hadn’t been cleaned in a while, which immediately took away the joy of what was meant to be a relaxing family weekend. After informing our host—who was friendly—we noticed that only the bathroom was cleaned somewhat afterward. For a weekend that cost €800, we expected to arrive in a clean environment and not have to start our holiday by cleaning ourselves. Our young toddler couldn't safely crawl on the floor, which was particularly frustrating. It feels like our standards of cleanliness are clearly different.

Positive: The house was immaculate. Very recent restoration done to a high standard. The location was great for our road trip. There are two double bedrooms and 4 single beds in the roof room. 2 bathrooms, a big well equipped kitchen with large dining table and a nice lounge area for when it gets a bit cold outside. Loads of parking and two superb restaurants which due to a concert, were unfortunately fully booked. But the terrace kindly did us a limited choice and boxed it up to take back to the house. The waiter couldn’t have helped us more.
Negative: Nothing. Everything was superb.
Summary: If the location suits you (it is remote) then book it.

Positive: Access was with a code. Nice bistro next to the house. (with personal service from Valerie, who does a great job) Beautiful location for walks. comfortable beds.
Negative: the kitchen was not very clean, we needed to wash the (limited) glasses before first use, and the cupboards could use a deep clean. The windows looked like the hadn't been cleaned in a long time. (spider webs...) There is no cosy area inside the house to relax. Yes, there is a sofa, but again, nothing cosy about it. The terrace outside is small, and furniture is not comfortable. We even put the kitchen chairs outside to have some comfort. Unclear when we could enter and should leave the premises.

Positive: We slept at the Bief du Vivier, a small stone house located on the grounds of a medieval convent, Abbaye Notre Dame du Vivier (not active any more). There are a bedroom, a living room and a fully equipped kitchen with a large dining table on the ground floor, two full bathrooms and a bedroom on the second floor, and a large attic including four twin beds. As a family of four, we used only part of the rooms and the beds. Although the building is historical, all is renovated and brand new on the inside. All is surrounded by the green and lush grounds of the convent, with farm animals such as Merino Sheep on the courtyard, a small stream at the entrance to the house and a good local (and quite popular) restaurant operating at the former chapel, across the stream.
Negative: The main building of the convent, just across the parking lot, is going through renovation so there are building materials scattered there and even a construction crane, just across from the sheep. Also, the house is full with Christian religious décor, as befits a former convent (but now it was turned into a modern accommodation) so if you dislike religious symbols in your bedroom this place might not be the best choice (we still enjoyed it very much).
Summary: Amazing stay in a medieval renovated house set in an idyllic, pastoral scenery
