3 Bedroom Cottage in Historic Old Town, Niagara-on-the-Lake

An upscale, welcoming, three-bedroom, two-bath Boutique-style cottage in beautiful Niagara-on-the-Lake. Set on a large secluded and fenced property and close the to Lake Ontario and to the many exciting wineries, restaurants, shopping, Shaw theatre and the many attractions of the Niagara region. Drive or bike through the well preserved 19th century Village. Take a short walk to the lake to see one of the 10 most beautiful sunsets in the world, considered so by National Geographic.
The main floor features 3 bedrooms. All private. Two have Queen pillow top mattresses and luxurious designer bedding. Sleep in comfort under billowing draperies in the romantic Canopy Room, or be closer to nature in the Garden Room, with its walk-out to the deck. These 2 well-appointed rooms share an updated full bath with tub and shower combination at the back of the bungalow.
The 3rd private bedroom doubles as an office and sitting room and boasts a top of the line comfortable pull out sofa bed.
There are 2 renovated bathrooms. One of which boasts a very spacious walk-in glass shower with rain shower head. The other has an oversized tub and European style hand held shower.
Abbey Cottage open concept living and dining rooms are designed for entertaining. There’s a full basement for entertaining in addition to the main floor which has a big screen TV and wifi. The hand-carved harvest dining table allows ample room for mealtime gatherings. The kitchen has a breakfast bar, new stainless steel appliances and all the cookware, glassware and dinnerware you need. Natural sunlight makes the cottage bright and cheerful.
The backyard oasis is sure to please everyone. Relax in the laid-back Muskoka chairs, BBQ or grill on the deck, dine at the wrought iron table, or sip a glass of wine under the idyllic pergola. Abbey Cottage offers an upmarket, elegant, relaxing experience in the prettiest town, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Once you’ve experienced the charm of Abbey Cottage, like staying in a good friends home, you will want to return again and again.
Our house rules: primary renter must be 25 or older, no smoking, no parties or events, no pets.
We are in an established neighbourhood and would appreciate that no parties or events are on the property. We expect you to treat this cottage as your own.

Summary: Beautiful location, walking distance to old town iNiagara-On-The-Lake. The cons: squeaky beds, needing proper pots and pans for cooking, more plug ins for electronic devices would be appreciated. The pros: access to Shakespeare Road and views of Lake Ontario. Friendly property manager and owner who attended to most of our needs. Overall a good stay. Thank you!

Summary: This property was incredible! It checked off all of our boxes, and even the boxes we didn't anticipate. I would definitely recommend this property to others, and I would stay there again next time I'm in the area.

Summary: The Abbey Cottage is everything it says and more. First thank you Ruth for always being available to answer all of my questions. The plethora of information at the Cottage was first rate from places to visit to menus of all the local restaurants. The beds were the best after a long day of sight seeing, wineries and excellent food. Thank you so much for sharing Abbey Cottage with us.

Summary: Amazing experience. The place was sparkling clean and tidy and the welcome process and follow-up quite professional. Issue with AC but no big deal. It was adressed right away but will be solved after the long week-end. Would recommend bathroom on ground floor to be changed to unable users to take a shower in bathtub without making a mess or falling.

Summary: 6 of us stayed here for almost a week and it was great. The place has lots of room for everyone to have space, a place to settle in etc. Only real complaint is that if you have light sleepers in your party, they may not sleep well if other folks get up. The water/floorboards make enough noise throughout the house that it was a little funny. That aside, the place has everything you could want (except a cheese grater) and was perfect for our needs. Would love to come back again in warmer weather to take advantage of the backyard. Would recommend, especially for larger groups.

Summary: This cottage was wonderfully laid out and fairly close to the main street of Niagara on the Lake in that we were able to walk to it in about 15-20 minutes. It was very convenient for wine tasting. The decor was wonderful, it had a nice area outside in the back to sit and chat, and plenty of space in the living room for conversations. The beds were super comfortable and the shower was great, though we had to wait a little while for the water to heat up. We really appreciated the free wine tastings provided to us by Jamie, the caretaker. It made our day! I have a couple of suggestions to make the place more in keeping with other places that I've stayed at that have gone the extra mile- have sugar for coffee and condiments available for people to use as it seems like an unnecessary expense for travellers to have to go to when normally people use very little of the item for short stays. The other thing was that there was no dish soap available for the dishwasher and I'm assuming that we we were not meant to provide that. Having to provide a cash 200 dollars for damage deposit was mildly inconvenient as we had to wait for the deposit to come back prior to leaving-having said that, the caretaker was right on time with appearing so we were not delayed. Perhaps a suggestion would be to put it on a credit card and then refund the money as I did recently with another property on VRBO. Other than that, I would recommend this place as it was spotless and had a great layout. Thanks again!

Summary: I had a problem with the price of the property. VRBO told me one price and the owner told me I needed to pay an extra $50.00 cleaning fee. I think it was VRBO's fault. They put a service fee at the total and I assumed it was for cleaning and other expenses
