Positive: The location is very scenic and remote. The cottage is clean and very well equipped with all the needs catered to.
Negative: Through out the stay, there were several disruptions to our privacy with bakkies and people coming in and out, unwanted noise due to the ongoing works at the Jetty barely 10 meters from the cottage making it very frustrating to just sit on the porch and take in the views, sleep in a bit or enjoy a quiet nap in the afternoon. When we complained about this, the lady in charge wasn't the most empathic and didnt apologize once for the inconvenience caused. She just stated that this was a working farm and intrusions were limited to 3-5pm which certainly wasn't the case in our experience. The directions to the property are not precise. There is no turn off to the property at 14 km as specified. It is at least 3 more kms further up. There is no phone signal up there so the directions need to be more spot on. We drove around for a bit trying to locate the property which was a tad frustrating and could have been avoided.
Summary: great location, but little privacy.

Negative: The location is magnificent, I suggest that something be done with the signage. The contact lady had advised that we call her but she was nowhere to be found. Although we found the keys for access into the house, we were frustrated until we arrived.

Positive: The location is perfectly situated off the beaten track. Although it is remote, we felt very safe and our needs well attended to by both the host and the local caretaker. There is so much do do for the outdoor enthusiast with a dam, forest, trails, cave and berg river very close to your doorstep. The scenery is amazing from the large porch/veranda area, and a small viewing area over the valley about 30m from the house. The cottage has all you need from a self-catering point of view and is very spacious with 2 bathrooms, 2 main bedrooms, 1 room with 2 single beds, another large room with 4 double bunk beds, open plan kitchen and lounge area with fireplace. We were unable to do all the outdoor activities that are available during our stay and hence our family will be going back in future with friends.
Negative: When it is raining for a long period it will be necessary to make use of a 4x4 vehicle to get to the location, mainly due to the condition of the dirt road from Underberg on the Bushman's Nek route to the turnoff to the Adare property gate, and to a lesser extent the route through the forest on the property itself to the cottage.
Summary: Great location, cottage, views and outdoor activities for the whole family and friends. Good value.

Positive: Simply put, this is a great place for kids to be kids. Mud pies, mud fights, camp fire stories. No amount of singing and shouting along the mountain track or any amount of shrieking and laughter at the dam in front of the cabin was going to disturb anyone but ourselves. So refreshing. Such great value.
Negative: None. We will definitely be back before the kids grow up!
