Designed by landscape architect Robert E. Marvin, this 3-level glass house, built of post and beam construction, attracts those searching for a peaceful and relaxing experience. Characterized by its serenity, the brightest light may be the moon’s reflection off the flowing river. Wild Bluff has been featured in Southern Living Magazine as a featured house design.

Summary: Definitely an older house, but it seems well maintained and very clean. We wanted a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and this really let us do that. Lovely to sit in the living room and watch the light change over the river during sunrise and sunset. Lots of birds to listen to, especially liked hearing the owl during the night. Appreciated the Welcome Bag of goodies, especially the sunscreen and bug repellent since we’d forgotten to pack those.

Summary: Truly a unique property. It’s like a cross between a tree house and a cabin. Stunning view of the river, private, wooded lot. We enjoyed the screened in porch below the main living area and the platform deck outside the dining room. The raised, wooden walkway down to the sitting area by the river was great as well. You have to take this for what it is - a cabin in the woods by the river, not a luxury vacation house or a resort. Other reviews mention cleanliness - we found it to be clean ourselves. There are some cobwebs and dust that could be dealt with, but the kitchen and bathrooms and living areas were clean. Again, it’s a cabin in the woods in the low country. You will have bugs and other things that come along with that. Things to mention for future lookers: The house does not have internet. It’s not advertised as an amenity, but the listing description did not point out that it that was not an amenity. My fault - but I was surprised when I saw the post booking information and found out the house did not have it. There is not a grill on property and grilling is prohibited according to the post booking information. We love grilling out and with the small kitchen that’s really not set up for cooking large meals and the lovely outdoor setting, a grill would have been appreciated! The town of Walterboro about 20 minutes away has some restaurants but eating out daily isn’t super convenient with the cabin's location. If you are not someone who rises at dawn, the downstairs bedroom may not be for you. There are no blinds or curtains anywhere in the house, including the downstairs "bedroom". (The mattresses are probably due for an upgrade, but comfortable enough.)If you are booking in the near future after this review, I would ask the host if the dock will be usable for your stay. We were told the morning of check-in that the dock had been damaged previously and the attempts to repair it had failed, so we would not be able to use it while we were there. This was a pretty key amenity for our family when finding a house on the Edisto, so we were pretty disappointed. The host compensated us for the inconvenience without us even asking, which we appreciated, and I absolutely know this is out of the owner’s control but we would have also appreciated knowing that it being out of order was a possibility before the day of check-in. Overall, we really enjoyed our time there and would stay there again in the future. It’s a magical, one-of-a-kind place.
