Positive: Beautiful well-appointed room. We made good use of the pool (extra towels provided!), and the seating in the lovely garden.

Negative: It's a hike to the historic centre.

Positive: Great room, and lovely host with a fabulous breakfast. I enjoyed the location even though it's not central - it is not too far to walk to the bazaar, and as it is higher up the mountain you can get great views of the castle from here. You are also already halfway if you want to go to Al Paci bridge. The cafes/restaurants nearby are a little cheaper than central too.

Negative: The access is a little steep to the actual house (for anyone with access needs) and you should contact ahead to find the property (but not a big problem). The pool was nice to have in the heat, but it is small and a home pool - again not a big problem but good to know.

Summary: Lovely host, very comfortable room, fabulous breakfast, good location.

Positive: Everything! Situated in a local area just outside the town, it has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and hills. The hosts are genuinely kind and thoughtful, their adorable little dogs Charlie and Darcy are very entertaining and love visitors - but not cats :)! We lunched at Taverna Sokolli (their recommendation) - which was very close to the accommodation (excellent - home cooked with fresh ingredients from the garden and good home-made wine). The pool was refreshing on a hot day, after a couple of hours at the Castle. As we relaxed at the end of our day, we were provided with deliciously cool melon and plums - all local produce. The bed was the best we have had in the last 6 weeks of travel through Italy and Albania - and that is saying something. The breakfast was a feast, and delicious! We were sad to leave, but we'll be back!

Negative: The entrance to the property could be difficult for those with mobility issues, with old world stone pavement. It might be a little hard to find the place on your own, as Google Maps doesn't appear to pinpoint the location well (an issue we have experienced in Albania and Sicily for some reason). If so, find Taverna (or Guest House) Sokolli, and they will help. Alternatively, take a taxi, the driver will phone ahead and the hosts will come out to greet you. However, don't let this deter you - Alva Rooms is well worth it!

Positive: Gorgeous room looking out into the hills - lovely view. And the breakfast - the lovely host goes above and beyond - breakfast is 6 star! Quiet and peaceful property with 2 sweet small dogs who become your best friends.
