Lovely renovated two-story home with 5 bedrooms (4 upstairs and master bedroom downstairs) and 2 full bathrooms. Squeaky cleaned according to CDC guidelines to protect from Covid-19.
Absolutely stunning views and roomy screened-in back porch with ceiling fans and table with plenty of extra seating to relax and enjoy the view.
Spacious living room with remote-controlled gas brick fireplace and raised hearth. Large kitchen with adjoining dining area. Fully furnished with modern appliances including dishwasher. Cable TV with HBO, ESPN and many more. Overstuffed couch and three comfy loveseats in living room. Large parking area for 7 vehicles. Covered front porch with 2 rockers and porch swing.
Many attractions in town include restored movie theater, numerous shops for antiques and collectibles, and Amish furnishings . Nearby are the famous Natural Bridge and Caverns, James River, Washington and Jefferson National Forests, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Appalachian Trail, with fantastic views of the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay over the holiday! The owners had decorated for Christmas so things felt very festive. The view of the river was beautiful. And the park across the river was decked out with Christmas lights! Just perfect for our trip!

Summary: This home is adorable!! It is warm and inviting! The owners are very thoughtful in how they have prepared for every possible contingency!! It is clean!! We are a tv watching. group so we really weren’t prepared for only one tv in the house! However,The Overlook is centrally located to so many places, The Natural Bridge, Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia Triple Crown and fantastic Pickleball courts in Salem so one is too tired to do anything but fall asleep at the end of the day!! The home has other great amenities but I want people to enjoy discovering the uniqueness of the home like we did so I will end my post here!! Do not pass on staying at The Overlook you will not be disappointed!!!

Summary: We chose the Overlook in Buchanan for our nieces wedding weekend. It was close in proximity to all the venues where we needed to be so the convenience was great. I can’t say enough about how comfortable and clean this home was. We had 6 adult, 2 three year olds and a newborn and we managed quite well. The children and adults enjoyed the screened porch in the back “overlooking” the town and mountains. There was a park close by for them to play in between wedding events and we had time for adventures on to the parkway and the Natural Bridge. I would definitely recommend this home for others visiting the area. Carol

Summary: What a pleasant stay, the overall booking and communication process with the owner was great. We got in later on Friday evening and checked in without any issues. Saturday we got to explore the area going to Jeter farm, but got to sit on the deck and enjoy the music from the bluegrass festival that was happening over the hill in Buchanan. Sunday i was racing in the Virginia Blue Ridge Gran Fondo cycling race, which the route went right in front of the house, it was a perfect location for my family. Overall the place was extremely clean and a pleasure to stay at.

Summary: The house was very nice, well kept! Very clean with nice amenities including games, movies, books, and puzzles. Very convenient to the interstate and not a bad drive to Lexington or Roanoke. Hosts were easily accessible for communication as well.

Summary: We enjoyed staying at the Overlook! The home had everything we needed. We spent a lot of time on the screened-in porch that had a beautiful view of the town and mountains. There were several trains that past during our stay which our grandson loved! We couldn't see the train, but we heard the whistle. So fun!

Summary: House was decorated nicely and beds were comfortable. Kitchen well stocked. Loved being within walking distance of the charming town of Buchanan. Tubed down the James river, , hiked off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, ate numerous meals downtown and relaxed on the screened back porch. All six members of our sibling/spouce group give this rental two thumbs up.

Summary: The place had everything we wanted. We made dinner every night there, and ate out on the outdoor patio, which was also great for our board game nights, which they had a lot of great options. Tons of suggestions of what to do and where to go. Check in was easy. Just a nice relaxing, clean place to stay with a great view.
