Summary: This is a great location to stay in just outside of Bilbao that will give you the quiet of the country yet easy access to the city and the coastal areas. The bus stops right in front of the house and we were able to be in the city center or the coastal communities in less than 30 minutes. There are 2 buses into Bilbao - running every hour during the week from the house and much more regularly from the transfer point in Mungia. Mikel and his family are wonderful and accommodating. They also drove us to Bilbao one morning and got us set up with our bus passes. The apartment is comfortable, quiet, very clean, the kitchen well equipped with everything you need.

Summary: The owners were responsive, warm, and genuinely helpful during our 4 night stay in mid-September, 2019, AND we felt we had all the privacy and quiet we needed (and we need a lot!) The apartment was CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN, well stocked, and although very efficient, the space was large enough to be comfortable while cozy. The air-conditioning, washing machine, and kitchen appliances were new and operated easily. Wifi was super. The bed was king size in the master bedroom and quite comfortable. The pillows were awesome. Although Gatika appears to be in the middle of nowhere on the map, it is only 5 min by car or bus from Mungia where you can pick up the inexpensive local and regional buses to Bilboa and other towns. Guest parking is ample and separate from the owner's. If you know any Spanish, please use it!! The owners are so welcoming--the best of the Basque region!
