The space
The Mirage is an open space apartment with incredible view of Lake Lugano. It consists of a large living room with sleeping area, a fitness area, a dining area and a lounge area, as well a large bathroom with shower.
An adjacent room serves as a secondary bedroom and is equipped with its own bathroom with shower. The kitchen is located at the entrance of the apartment. Outside the windows of the hall you can admire an incomparable view of Ponte Tresa and the lake Lugano.
The terrace offers a dining table, chairs and sunbed.

The village of Viconago is very quiet, ideal for those who want to relax and enjoy the view of the lake and mountains. The summer evenings are animated by children playing in the pedestrian streets and the bar that is located in the main square. Often there is live music and the inhabitants organize feasts and concerts
Getting around
The village of Viconago is only a short drive from Lake Lugano, and from the town of Ponte Tresa, where tourists can find shops and restaurants. Every saturday in Ponte Tresa there is a street market.
The loft's strategic position allows guests to reach the center of Viconago in a few minutes, where they will find a small grocery shop and a Pizzeria. The town of Luino and Lake Maggiore are just 20 minutes away. The city of Varese, that offers a wide choice of shops and entertainment such as cinemas, theaters, shows and concerts, is reachable in only 25 minutes drive. Milan is 1 hour away. Moreover the village of Viconago is located very close to the border, and allows guests to reach Switzerland in a few minutes drive. The closest city is Lugano.
Even Lake Como is only 50 minutes away, a perfect destination for a day trip in Bellagio.

Summary: Simply put, this place certainly has the wow factor. On arrival through the small village perched on the hills overlooking Ponte Tresa, the apartment is rather unassuming despite the fact one enters through impressive wrought iron gates and it is the ground floor part of a magnificent larger property. On entering the apartment, there is a well appointed kitchen with breakfast bar as well as spare room with elevated double bed (and its own bathroom), which the children loved as it was accessed via a small staircase. Then comes the highlight of this place - the combined living room/master bedroom with full glass surround to the most stunning view of the town, lake, surrounding hills and mountains. It is a view that we could never tire of as we ate breakfast every morning on the terrace. We almost didn't want to leave most days as we could have just sat there soaking in the panorama. The master bathroom is capacious with a shower that has more jets than you could possibly want! If you really wanted to luxuriate, then the hot tub was perfectly placed to enjoy the views some more. I did mean to use the fitness room during the week, but failed miserably as we were out every day enjoying the area of Lugano, Lago Maggiore, Varese and Monte Tamaro. Maurizio the owner was fantastic, giving us all the detail we needed on the property and the surrounding area. We took him up on all his suggestions for trips and we were not disappointed. I hope to return to this property in the near future and have no qualms about recommending this place to anyone.

Summary: Everything is in fact as advertised. The views are amazingly more attractive than what you see in the pictures. The place is so quiet, the mountain breeze is revitalising. Ponte Tresa is five minutes away, Switzerland is a two-minute walk. Lugano is near, Menaggio is near (Como lake) and so it is Lake Maggiore. If you like the alpic lakes without moving far away from cities and people, this is one of the best choices. The house is spacious, its ambience is more than welcoming, everything works. And last but not least, the owners are exceptional people and great hosts. Wish we could stay more. Maurizio e Isabella, Vi ringraziamo!
