Villa Artemis is a stone built villa in the traditional village of Gavalochori, 25km east of Chania Crete. Its unique architectural style is combined with modern facilities in order to provide an ideal environment for your holidays. The villa features 350 m2 of living space on a 1000 m2 plot of land. It offers complete privacy with its own parking space for two vehicles, garden and two pools (one regular and one lap). The villa can accommodate up to 10 guests. It offers a stunning view of the White Mountains. The nearest beach of Almyrida is 3km away while the nearest shops are 200m away.
Free WiFi coverage throughout the villa. Beach towels are provided. The pools operate from April 1 to October 30. Please note: No parties or loud music is allowed at the villa.
Cleaning Service: Price includes daily maid service (bathrooms and bedrooms only), change of towels and linen twice weekly (more often if requested) and general cleaning once weekly.
Catering Service, groceries delivery: We can arrange for daily delivery to the villa of meals of the finest Greek and local Cretan cuisine. We can also arrange groceries delivery from local supermarkets, butcher shop, fruit stands and bakery.

The villa is located on a hillside in the village of Gavalochori in West Crete. Gavalochori is a traditional Cretan village situated in the Apokoron region about 3km inland from the coastal village of Almirida. Its location is 25 km east of Chania which takes about 20 minutes drive along the National Road. Gavalochori is an old historical village with approximately 500 residents which has retained its color and way of life. Several family run tavernas offer the visitor tasty dishes of Cretan cuisine. Near the small village square and within walking distance from the villa there is a coffee shop, a bakery, a mini mart, two tavernas and the Folk Art Museum. The surrounding area has several beautiful nature paths for walking or biking which lead either towards the sea or towards the White mountains. The coastal village of Almirida is less than 10 minutes driving distance. In Almirida you may find all basic facilities, such as a supermarket, pharmacy, post office, bakery, ATM, gas station and taxi service. It has a wonderful sandy beach with crystal clear water and a shallow section particularly suitable for small kids. This Blue Flag rated beach is organized with sun beds and umbrellas and sea sports services. There are several sea side tavernas and bars offering exquisite sea food and night entertainment. The large town of Chania of course offers the visitor a wider range of choices for shopping, dining and night life mostly centered around the old Venetian port. Some interesting monuments in Chania town are the covered Municipal Market, the Venetian fortifications, the Egyptian Lighthouse, the Synagogue, the Fortress of Firkas, the Mosque of Giali Tzamisi, the Arsenals, and the Othrodox Cathedral.

Summary: I think this has to be one of my favourite places I have ever stayed. The rental was beautiful and very spacious - had everything you needed and then some. The pools were perfect and the view - well, I could never get tired of that view. The town is delightful, and the restaurants and the bottom of the hill are fantastic - especially Gavalionas Kafenes!! So much history to see without even having to drive too far too. Thank you Mrs. Froso for being so kind and helpful, I hope you have a wonderful summer with lots of great renters. I really hope we can get back there soon - (One tip, when renting a car, go for a smaller car as the cool little roads in the small villages can be very narrow.)

Summary: We had a wonderful stay. The villa was amazing with stunning architecture and the pools catered for all. It was such a special villa, it felt exclusive and the space was amazing. The air conditioning was definately needed!! Honestly cannot fault it. Highly recommended for families of all ages. The town is also wonderful with a lovely gift shop and various fantastic restaurants and importantly retains a traditional Greek vibe..

Summary: A wonderful villa in a great village. Mrs Fruso is a amazing and helpful housekeeper/host. Having 2 pools was a real treat and the bottom one is very long so good for a few lengths to keep fit. Restaurants a short walk down the hill and a shop. Beach 5 mins away by car in Almyrida. We did scuba diving there. Also lots of beach bars and restaurants. We went on a boat cruise in Kalyves. Water park just over an hour away beyond Chania. Nice and quite neighbourhood. Less than an hour from Chania and the fantastic maritime museum. We did most of our big shops in the Lidls around Chania and topped up at smaller shops in Gavalochori and Almyrida. We also did the Samaria Gorge walk- very hot and tiring but well worth it. Take some flip flops for the beach at the end-it is a gravel beach and very hot in the sun.

Summary: The villa is beautiful, the pools are amazing. A short walk to town with cafe, shop and taverna. 10 minutes in car to main town with beach and lovely restaurants. We had one day at the water park near Chania which was only 40 minutes drive. Our children had a magical time.

Summary: We had an excellent stay in this beautiful villa. Check in was easy, the wonderful host had left us ample supplies of essentials as well as some welcome gifts. Everything worked as it should and there was good wi-fi inside and outside. The pools are excellent.. One for swimming, and the infinity pool for chilling. Both perfectly clean and fresh. A 5 minute walk is the village square with several well stocked shops, bars and restaurants. I certainly recommend this villa. 10/10.

Summary: The pictures online match perfectly with what we experienced during our stay. The host communicated quickly and everything in the house was very clean. It is a very spacious property with excellent views of the surrounding mountains. The walk to the village is absolutely delightful, great places to eat, drink, and just enjoy the small village. We would return without reservation.
