Positive: This was the best value accommodation we've had in west Africa. Layo is an excellent host. He gave us lots of information. It was a short walk to the Basilica, the python temple and some art galleries. The area is quiet. The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable.

Positive: If you stop over in Ouidah, and I recommend you do instead of going on an overpriced tour, stay with Layo! He is an incredibly friendly and helpful person, plus he is a guide in the museum for contemporary art. He helped me get the transportation to Abomey, find my way around town, and even gave me a little tour in the museum. So first big plus for staff. The house is located close to the main sites, this being the museum and the temple of the pythons (tourist trap). You can easily walk everywhere. No worries, it is save and quiet, even at night. The neighbours always greeted me, so no problem with the area. The house is nicely decorated and the room was spaceous and well furnished. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom among the better in this area of the world. And all that for a pretty good price for Benin. A perfect combination of home stay, comfort, location, and price.
Negative: It was really a 10 point accommodation, no complains.

Positive: Best part of the stay was Layo, the owner/manager. He has excellent English, is very attentive, great sense of humor, always looking for feedback on how he can improve guest experience, and genuinely interested in his guests. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Water pressure was wonderful so showers at the end of a hot day were such a pleasure. The location was excellent; it was an easy walk to places of interest and extremely safe. Less than 10 minutes to the Temple of Pythons and about 25 minutes to the Sacred Forest. I personally loved to walk because you just get to see so much more!
Negative: I still think this property is exceptional and deserves a 10 but this is more just a warning if you are like me and need air conditioning because you're not used to the heat and humidity. The ceiling fan is excellent but for me, personally, air conditioning would have helped me. Again, I repeat: this property deserves a 10 and is excellent value for money.
Summary: Feels more like you've come home than at a stale hotel devoid of personality.
