Positive: Staying in a private cabin right next to the frozen lake was a dream come true. Being able to watch the Aurora Borealis dance across the sky right from my bed was a truly unique experience I’ll never forget. John was an incredibly welcoming host, and I loved how private and peaceful the entire stay felt. Convenient location for tasty fresh fish at Bullocks, Art galleries and yummy sticky buns and ice cream from Sundog.
Negative: While I noticed some squeaking and clicking noises, I attributed this to the extreme weather and the freezing/defrosting cycle; regardless, it did not affect my sleep or the overall quality of the stay.
Summary: Lakeside Aurora Experience

Positive: The location of the property is excellent for viewing the Aurora Borealis as it is located on the shore of Great Slave Lake which provides ample open space when the lake is frozen in the winter for a great viewing experience. The accommodations were comfortable and clean and well heated, a plus for a winter visit like ours.. Ben, the substitute on-site manager was extremely helpful during our stay. Yellowknife is a wonderful small town to visit and enjoy during the winter
Negative: The digital door lock to our cabin froze several times during our stay and required a heat gun to get it to function. Management took care of that as needed. I believe the management is going to replace it with a standard lock or some other mechanism not so subject to freezing during the winters.
Summary: Wonderful place to visit and stay

Positive: We spent 2 nights at this location and were pleased with this choice. Located in the Old Town, it offers easy walking access to the entire of Old Town, the Bush Pilots memorial (make sure to go up that rock for spectacular views) and many top-notch fish and chips places or try the restaurant on the premises that is well rated as well. Room was clean and comfortable and offered views on the lake and has a great balcony.
Negative: For a multi-day stays, it would have been nice to have a few quick supplies in the room like coffee / tea / sugar and creamers. There is a fridge and minimum cutlery / cups etc but you have to buy everything - there are no easy breakfast / coffee shops around.
Summary: Great location, amazing views, and very comfortable. You won't be disappointed.
