Positive: The room was beautiful and we had a good time at the pool. Staff was very nice and with good intentions
Negative: The staff was indeed very nice but failed to accurately inform us about dinner options, which turned out to be critical because we ended up with no available restaurants (for some reason the hotel restaurant doesn't serve dinners). The night manager did a much appreciated effort to bring us some tacos from another town, but unfortunately they were inedible. Also, at some point our shower started to smell like sewage. Overall we were pretty disappointed

Positive: The staff is very nice and the room is confortable.
Negative: I wouldn't recommend staying here mainly because of the location. There is literally nothing in Tzununa and the location of the hotel is also not nice. I felt unsafe a couple of times when returning at night alone. You will need to be back in the last boat pretty early and there is nothing to do. Also, unfortunately I booked a room with a view, but they gave me one with a garden (which was cheaper). Considering the location, I believe it should be cheaper.

Positive: What amazing hotel. This was my second time in Atitlan and last time I made the mistake of staying in a larger village. This time I chose a smaller village and Aviva hotel, and it was the perfect choice. The room was incredible, comfy bed, stunning views, tasty coffee and a terrace to relax. And the breakfast was sooo good. Run, don't walk to stay here if you visit lake atitlan.
Negative: It's super easy to get to on the boat, and just a 10min walk, but on arrival the TukTuks were quoting much higher prices than the hotel has suggested. I don't mind paying more as a tourist, but they were taking the pi$$. As a consequence, I walked everywhere after the initial ride (including with my luggage when leaving). Not the hotels fault at all, but a shame that was my first Impression of the village.
Summary: Perfect place for a visit to Atitlan

Positive: Nestled in the breathtaking mountainscape surrounding Lake Atitlán, Aviva Boutique Hotel is a true treasure. From the moment we booked, our host Adam reached out to ensure our arrival and stay would be seamless. That thoughtful communication set the tone for what would become an unforgettable experience. Every inch of this place reflects the care, pride, and passion of its owners, hosts, and staff. It’s clear that Aviva is more than a hotel—it’s a lovingly curated haven. The design is both striking and harmonious, with massive, stunning rocks integrated beautifully into the architecture. The way nature and design blend together here is absolutely thrilling to the senses. We were especially touched by the attention to detail and the warm, personalized touches that made us feel not just welcome, but truly valued. The inclusion of local artwork throughout the property added a vibrant and meaningful layer to our stay—each piece telling a story and celebrating the rich culture of the region. Staying at Aviva wasn’t just a vacation—it was a sweet and soulful experience that brought joy to me and my family. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already dreaming of our return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something special, serene, and deeply memorable.

Positive: I could not have asked for a better weekend than the one I had at the Aviva Hotel. Nelson, Adam, and the rest of the team made me feel welcomed, well-fed, and safe the entire time. They were able to help coordinate essentially all of my travel in Guatemala, between private shuttles to and from the lake as well as early morning boat rides, which was a major plus with what had been a last-minute trip. The view of the lake is spectacular and I would highly recommend the double room if it is available. The hotel is brand new and very modern, which offers a nice contrast to the surrounding nature. The rooms are well-insulated and do a good job keeping the bugs out - along with having nice amenities. Mine even had a fireplace which was a nice touch to a rainy evening one night. On top of everything, I would be remiss not to mention the pool or the breakfast, which were huge selling points to me as well. I highly, highly recommend the Aviva Hotel - made such a difference for my trip and well worth it!
Negative: Nothing
