Positive: The lodge was spacious and very clean. The location was outside of the main town, so we needed a car to get around, but it was very peaceful and quiet. A great place to rest and relax after a day of sightseeing. Debbie and Rich were fabulous hosts and took care of all our needs while we were on the island.

Negative: Nothing. It suited our needs quite well.

Positive: Banana Tree Lodge is absolutely lovely. It is a little drive outside of Jamestown but it is a wonderful place to stay to explore Saint Helena. Richard and Debbie were absolutely wonderful and so kind. Absolutely five starts and I will be staying there again.

Negative: Nothing to improve - it really is wonderful.

Negative: The WiFi wasn't brilliant, tho it was ok, but that's not what you come to St Helena for.

Positive: Just lovely! We had a wonderful stay at Banana Tree Lodge. Great location with a car, very peaceful with good star gazing and a short drive to local shops and into Jamestown. The accommodation was perfect for our needs, comfortable with all the amenities we required and finished to a good standard. Rich and Debbie were fantastic hosts, all the communication before we arrived was helpful and responsive and just as nice to meet Debbie in person. We would definitely recommend and would love to come back.

Positive: This felt like a ‘home away from home’ with everything we needed. The location is tucked up on the hill and was an ideal base for our daily hikes all over the island. We appreciated all the small touches that made us feel welcome, including the scrabble board we availed ourselves of in the evening, as we sipped unique, locally sourced artisanal gin. It helped the aching muscles after conquering ‘Jacobs Ladder’. We’ve never met such friendly but unobtrusive people anywhere, starting with the taxi driver, Colin, who the owner arranged to pick us up at the airport. He kindly took us to a supermarket to pick up supplies and orientated us to the island. Matt at the tourist information centre in town was great to talk to - would suggest going there early in the week to see the open hours of the main attractions over the coming week, so you don’t miss anything. A visit to the nearby Plantation House to see Jonathan the oldest living land creature in the world, is a must! The home is also close to the Lemon tree valley post box walk.

Negative: Nothing. The property and the island exceeded all expectations. It is totally charming and like no where else.

Summary: Can’t imagine a better base for the independent traveller who likes to self cater.
