Positive: Our room was wonderful in every way-- comfortable bed, fruit on arrival, and a large, luxurious bathroom.
Negative: The air conditioning worked, bit it was not the best. The breakfast staff were a bit clueless.

Negative: Banyan Tree is a superb and well-located hotel with a serious flaw. The building and facilities and staff are all exceptional. Where it falls down is in the three restaurants. The breakfast in the bistro purports to start at 7am but the four times I was there, between 7 and 7:30 none of the hot food items were available. The trays were either not there or empty. There were excessive amounts of cut up fruit and a big bowl of cereal and after a while some excellent warm pastries appeared. In order to have a decent breakfast I ordered the "American" breakfast which consisted of the fruit, some juice, the pastries, coffee or tea and two eggs. Ok, acceptable, but not comparable to the excellent buffet breakfasts I have had in other hotels In Mexico. The second restaurant, a Thai menu, is located on the roof terrace and shares space with a bar. The meal I had there was quite good, but the atmosphere is not conducive to fine dining as you are seated next to the pool, with a lot of children splashing around. The supposed pinnacle of dining is Cello, advertised as a high-end Italian restaurant. I made a reservation for 7 pm Saturday night. It turned out to be unnecessary as there were no other clients when I arrived and still none when I left, an hour later. The facility itself is lovely, but... They had no wine list. They did show me a couple of bottles of wine, so they do have some, just no list. I menu was of typical Italian dishes. I ordered an appetizer of fried seafood. When it came it was twice as much food as should be in an appetizer and consisted of big, lumpy breaded pieces of shrimp, calamari and zucchini, deep-fried. Tasteless. The second course was Spaghetti carbonara and it was also utterly tasteless. Cooking this at home, I am sure I would be unable to achieve this level of tastelessness! And the pasta was, as it almost always is, overcooked. Bistro C, Thai, B, Italian, D.

Positive: Great staff! We visited in January and everyone was very attentive. We did tastings at the bar, had massages at the spa, and enjoyed drinks by the pool, everything was excellent. The room was gorgeous, and the location was perfect. If it’s within your budget, it’s definitely a great place to stay.

Positive: I loved the sophisticated interior design showcasing local Mexican artisan crafts including the Tavalera ceramics and lacquerware. Bedroom and bathrooms were of exceptional standard as one would expect from the Banyan Tree. The beautiful views from the rooftop restaurant and swimming pool exceeded expectations. Excellent American breakfast included in the room rate.
Negative: Be prepared that the hotel is a 20 minute walk from the Zocalo where most of the action is and in the evening, you'll probably want a taxi to get to the best restaurants and bars.
Summary: Banyan Tree was simply gorgeous - a relaxing oasis during our highly enjoyable stay in Puebla.

Positive: The location is amazing and the rooftop is gorgeous - the view, the pool .... we had dinner at the Thai restaurant on the roof and loved their special hot sauce so much that we got them to-go. It is made in-house from 2 local mexican chilies and 1 thai chili . Our rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable.
Summary: Overall fantastic stay ! the view, the location , the pool.

Positive: Breakfast was unremarkable and very overpriced. Ate too at roof top terrace. Food was fine but the amount of wine they served for the price of a cup was quite stingy. I would not return to the restaurants. Super expensive for what you get.
