The space
Pull into our quiet village neighborhood and you'll find our historic colonial home. Head into your private side entrance and check out the kitchenette equipped with all the conveniences you'll need during your stay - microwave, mini fridge, and coffee bar.
Peak into the colorful vintage full bathroom with shower then enter the living room. Enjoy a bright bohemian styled living space with hardwood floors and a Smart Roku TV. The comfortable sofa pulls out to a queen sized bed for an extra sleeping space. Wide glass doors let in plenty of light and lead out to a shared deck space to take in the sunshine.
Open the french doors in the living room and you'll find yourself in the spacious bedroom with queen sized memory foam mattress. Take advantage of the desk space for remote work or use it as a place to get ready for a night out in the village. The closet is stocked with plenty of gear to make a stay with kids easy - pack and play, stroller, high chair, and others available upon request!
A Couple Notes
- Our family lives in the upstairs unit so you might hear the pitter patter of little feet. You will have total privacy as the apartment is a separate unit but the backyard is a shared space.
- We offer driveway parking to our guests May-Oct and street parking Nov-April.

Summary: My daughter and I were here for an extended weekend to experience Salem and do a college tour--the cottage was perfect for both of us. Great location, super walkable to town, the train, groceries, and restaurants. Highly recommend--wonderful communication with the owner, super clean, and it was well-appointed for our getaway.

Summary: My daughters and I were planning a trip to Salem and it was a bit last minute. I knew we didn't want to stay in a hotel or stay in Salem so I started looking around. This was our first trip to the area. We couldn't have landed in a better town to stay in. The walkability of Manchester by the Sea is wonderful - we could walk for breakfast, dinner, the water, groceries. We loved that aspect of it. It was a quick drive to Salem for the days we wanted to go - also went to Essex and Gloucester. It was the perfect central location. The place we rented was perfect for what we needed. The property is smaller than some I looked at, but we didn't need much room. So cute and it was so cozy. There is only a kitchenette, but we ate out most of our visit, so didn't need much of a kitchen either. This is disclosed in the property details. Beautifully decorated and very clean. It was like a place you'd want your first apartment to be. Easy to get to and we were there during the times that the driveway could be used - that was nice. We had intended on using the train while there because it is so close, but ended up just driving everywhere. Communication from our hosts was excellent - quick to answer and very informative. A++. If I ever visited the area again with a smaller group or by myself, I would definitely stay again!!

Summary: Overall we (a group of 3 adults) enjoyed our stay here very much. The place is beautifully decorated, just as pictured, and very close to the central area of town - no more than 3-5 minutes walking. The walk to the beach is a bit of a hike if you’re carrying too much or have mobility issues, but it’s not hard otherwise. The town is very picturesque and Singing Beach can’t be beat (just be prepared to pay - in cash - to walk on). We had a few hiccups with the sofa bed that the host was responsive to. You can definitely tell that the property is inhabited by a family with young children, which we didn’t find to be disruptive (the listing mentions footsteps overhead which we did notice early in the mornings, but we didn’t mind, and there are many children’s toys strewn about the yard). The outside area is not quite as gorgeous as the interior, but if you plan to be spending most of your time on the beach it is a wonderful place to stay!

Summary: Manchester-by-the-Sea is a very special place to visit with very limited accommodation options. I highly recommend this adorable property located in town and close to everything. I normally never stay in an apartment shared by the owner, but you should make an exception for this special place. I had privacy and felt at home. Yes, you can hear all the walking upstairs, but it did not bother me. Bring ear plugs if you are sleeping in. It is difficult to drag your bags through the back yard with pavers/dirt, I would bring a carry bag VS a roller bag ( you will need to carry your bags through the yard and up a small flight of stairs to access the property) .

Summary: We had a wonderful winter weekend get away! Manchester-by-the-sea is a beautiful town and the Suite by the Sea was equally as beautiful. It was perfect for the two of us. Being able to walk to town for groceries, dinner and a crisp walk to Singing Beach was a plus. All in all, we had a nice relaxing time at Suite by the Sea and we will be back again.
