Positive: Doug was an attentive and very kind host. The villa was spacious and clean. Great space and value for a family. We visited during the final full week in April and the area was neither busy nor crowded. At times, just a few or no other people on the beach or at the pool. While the forecast was for rain every day, we didn't have any long stretches of rain to ruin our days The Pterocarpus Forest was a fun afternoon activity, out of sun. Felt like we were in Jurassic Park! Everyone was super friendly. The villa had a perfect location, steps from the beach and a very short walk from the community pool. The view of the surf and sunrise was magnificent. The beds and living room were very comfortable. We had plenty of room for our family of 4 (2 teens, my husband.and me.) The kitchen had all kinds of tools, dishes, glasses, pots, pans. We were able to cook nearly all of our meals, though we could have gone to nearby restaurants. The washer and dryer were super handy. In that room, there were beach chairs and a beach bag. Beach towels were nicely offered in a basket by the front door. The AC really cranked, so never too warm or humid in the villa. TV offered lots of channels in English and Spanish. Check out was hassle free, without a long list of "to dos" that are often required with rentals. We had to leave a day early due to a death in our family back home, and Doug was compassionate and accommodating.
Negative: Worst part...having to leave. Need to be careful on the beach, if you try to enjoy the shade, the ants get mad and will nibble on your feed. At times there was a lot of seaweed, so just need to be aware. But it was worth it for the private beach.
