Positive: Transfer from our hotel to Port Denarau to Beachcomber was awesome - South Sea Cruises certainly had their stuff sorted. BEACHCOMBER RESORT. Our room (G5) was lovely, clean & comfortable. Everything with the room was great from the modern bathroom to the clean fridge, awesome A/C and storage. The outlook was right on the rocks (3/4 of the island is surrounded by rocks - they do not tell you this in the ads) but it was really nice with the sun going around in front of us during the day. Sunbeds with big umbrellas and good beach towels made lounging around on the beach easy. Room service was good but only left water bottles when asked. Two sunbeds & hammocks outside the room were awesome. Basic activities during the day changed our experience once we found out about them from other holiday makers! There were free activities throughout the day including short snorkelling sessions (great) to basic cooking to storytelling. Evenings were a bit weird. We were informed that the resort was full yet nobody was around. The resort tried to entertain with karaoke & music but it always fell flat on itself.
Negative: Would I go back? No. Would I recommend this resort as an overnight guest? No.please read on. 1. A MASSIVE NEGATIVE issue was the number of DAYTRIPPERS every day - this ranged from 30 to an estimated 60+ on one particular day. The beach, catering area & all of the facilities suddenly became way more crowded and really noisy with the associated yelling children. The resort seemed to cater for them rather than overnight guests as the great lunch was way better than the crap provided at either breakfast or in the evening. The free activities became crowded and were completely overrun by the daytrippers. After a few days this became really irritating, and every other overnight guest said the same. 2. FOOD.. We did not opt for the full board option as eating three meals a day would be too much. We opted to have the frรจe breakfast and pay for dinner separately - what a mistake that was. Each morning had the same greasy, overcooked, tasteless full breakfast apart from some nice pancakes on the final day. Fried eggs that were awful and hash browns that were all greasy batter. Very limited fruit that quickly ran out ie sliced pieces of orange. Dinner was expensive fake "a la carte" that was banal - pizza or beef burger as "a la carte?" Really? Yet the aforementioned daytrippers got a fabulous lunch comprising of a range of seafood (calamari, prawns, fish), along with loads of other additions to make a really good meal. On our final day we decided to have lunch instead of dinner - it was so large we only ordered one and it fed both of us! Go figure who this resort value as it's prime customers! 3. EATING AREA. Unbelievable- it reminded me of a school camp/ cafeteria with loads of park benches lined up. Uncomfortable, tacky & not what we were expecting for an island getaway. We realised why it was like this when the above daytrippers arrived - it was a rowdy, awful school canteen on steroids. Fabulous island resort? Not a chance. 4.

Positive: Location of Bure 14 was 10/10. On other side of island, maybe 5 minute walk but it was quiet. The highlight was the view out over the water, if the lull of the constant ocean is for yiu, this us your cup of tea. It is also a prime spot for magic sunset viewing and a hammock just to the left of us to contemplate the view, read a book or just be. The staff were so friendly and helpful and had great memories for our names which makes such a difference. The water activities, snorkelling, both off the beach and from their boats, SUP paddleboarding and kayaking were all-inclusive. Stunning sunrise and sunsets free of charge! The food was tasty and ample for our 3 night stay. Tea, coffee and water always available. Barista coffee available at Bar.
Negative: We had read reviews and knew the Bure would be older but hoping for rustic, for a good price we were prepared for this. However, access was a timber walk way that was not secure and showing its age. Raised nails in some of the timbers definitely needed hammering in. No light over sticking entrance door. Large number of tiles missing in shower, which could mean mould. Water mixer had obvious salt air damage but functioning. Holes in waterproof sheeting in shower. Stained shower holder. No outdoor furniture. When this was brought to staff attention the walkway was looked at. A banana lounge supplied. But there was nowhere else for us to go. In saying all of the above, there are new owners and this might all be rectified in time however, this was our experience. We still had the best time and looked past the obvious faults, when were we ever going to have the ocean at our door and a truly magical view. So be prepared if you go to this Bure 14, but don't let it stop you, we didn't.

Positive: This was one special island in the South Pacific! Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the amazing staff, nice renovated room with a super comfy bed, great cocktails from the Bar boys and excellent food each night. The island is green and lush and the waters super blue and full of soft corals and tropical fish. Plenty of sunsets and memories made on Beachcomber Island.

Positive: Beautiful, clean, modern and comfortable beachfront accommodation on Beautiful island. Snorkling just off the beach was really good. Nice coloured ๐Ÿชธ and ๐ŸŸ. We had the meals included package which was ok. Lunches were a beautiful and plentiful array of meat dishes, veggies and salads and one evening we had the traditional Lovo where they prepare the food in banana or palm leaves and cook it in the ground. This was also delicious along with traditional Fiji dancing, Kava ceremony etc. We're guessing they make sure the lunches are great so they get good reviews from the day trippers as some of our other meals were not that great. All the Fijian staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming and always smiling! ๐Ÿ˜€ Amazing people, Vinaka to you all! Not sure about the owners as they didn't introduce themselves but we guessed they were a young couple either Aussies or from UK that we kept seeing behind the counters.
Negative: Our first impression was not a good experience as 36 hours prior to arriving, on 9th May we receive an email saying how excited they were to announce that they are renovating their pool therefore the pool will be closed from 23rd April 2025 until end June 2025. We booked in March and the free cancellation ended 9th April and this is the first we are hearing about this. We found this quite underhanded as they would have already known this was scheduled in, so should have been upfront and transparent when we booked, but they failed to communicate this to us. We also spoke to many other travellers who said the same. We tried several times to email then to ask them to waiver the cancellation fee (full amount) as we wished to cancel however 24 hours they had not responded. Very poor communication!! Finally we phoned and spoke to a staff member the night before who eventually replied via email that they would not refund! Their excuse was that most people swam in the ocean and the pool was mainly used for diving training and this is why they are renovating it to extend it to a infinity pool with swim up bar, which will be amazing but we should have had the choice!! We love the ocean but sometimes, you don't want to get sandy and salty and just want to swim in the pool. Needless to say, we arrived with a bitter taste and was not offered any form of apology nor compensation in any way! New owners since November, so hope you improve your customer service skills! We also witnessed the manager speaking to some of his staff at the breakfast table, telling them that as of tomorrow they were to have breakfast in the staff quarters and not here with the guests! Again, way to go with your people skills, that is completely out of line to speak to staff in front of clients! Personally, we did not have any issues with the staff sitting for meals with us, as it creates a sense of family and welcoming when they are mingling with us.
