Enjoy a book or glass of wine on the two large decks overlooking the river valley below. Cozy and Comfortable. As part of the mountain experience, there is a 2 mile gravel drive to the property. SUV or slightly higher clearance vehicle recommended. 4WD could be needed in the case of lots of rain or snow. La Taniere is about 15 minutes drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wifi is satellite and not always the best due to location and seclusion. Nice place to unplug.

Summary: The property was beautiful just as the description is My grandkids are very scared of any type of bugs but they were very excited about hiking in the woods with the unknown. We was able to go to the river and visit the cave. The cabin was amazing its definitely secluded the loose gravel roads was an adventure buy itself. My only negative is the wifi and the road leading to the cabin other than that there was no complaints. The host was great with responses. I would definitely come back but in the summer time so I could enjoy the river. The grandkids didn't want to leave and are begging me for me to rent it again

Summary: Great place to get away and enjoy the surrounding nature. Beautiful cabin and furniture - great beds and entertainment systems. Would definitely stay again, watch out for Bigfoot!

Summary: The cabin was amazing! It rained all weekend however the cabin was so cozy and comfortable that we didn’t mind the rain.

Summary: The location was amazing! The cabin was beautiful! Owners were easily reached when we had questions. The only thing we think could have been better was the outdoor fire pit and it's location.

Summary: The cabin is beautiful. The decor was great. The owners were very nice & helpful when I've had to talk with them before. We all enjoyed ourselves, BUT it is not a place for older adults so we will not be going there again. We are all in our mid 60's & that property is very unsafe. We couldn't have the fire because the hill was too dangerous for us to try and get down. Same thing with going to the river or the cave. We had one lady that walks with a cane, she couldn't enjoy much of anything. There is NOTHING in the description that says how steep the grounds are. PLUS, there was a LOT of food left in the refrigerator that hadn't been cleaned out, nor had it been wiped out. We had to throw away some of it just to get our stuff in there. I took pictures. There is no AC upstairs and that's not mentioned either. The shower downstairs is NOT safe for older people either, it's slick even before it gets wet & there are no handrails. I have a CPAP machine - we had a hard time finding a place to plug it in. We had to pull out the bed to get to the outlet back there & the floor was covered with a very thick layer of dust and dirt. We cleaned it ourselves because I didn't want my CPAP cord in all that dirt. Part of the walls in the downstairs bathroom is covered in thick dust over by the toilet. We couldn't get ANY of the TVs to work. We were told that the wi-fi was sketchy, but it barely worked at all. I couldn't send a text or make a phone call so in an emergency we might have been in trouble. We did enjoy the turn table & some of the albums but if it wasn't for that we wouldn't have had anything. The bone things around the light switches & outlets are great BUT you can't use a charger in them because the bone design doesn't allow for large things to be plugged in. My overall rating - I give it a 5 out of 10 because of safety issues & cleanliness. My suggestions would be to put a nonskid clear sealer over the floor in the downstair shower, put handrails in there, non-slip stickers in the tub upstairs. Take the bones off the outlets. Have the cleaning people remove any food that is left behind by other guest - condiments are ok but there was milk, yogurt and all sorts of things & with Covid you can't take a chance. The closet in the downstairs bath needs to be kept locked. We had 5 people and the downstairs bath had one wash cloth - we had to search for more. Move the fire pit to a safer location. For TWO nights were grossly overcharged.

Summary: Beautiful cabin. Lots of space. I would say, might need a 4 wheel drive truck for the drive if its raining. Awesome views, seen deer, ground hogs. Seen the cave, walked to the water and fished. We had a great time.

Summary: This place is amazing in every aspect! The views from both decks are amazing, there is privacy like no where else and the cabin itself is absolutely stunning! Everything was clean, comfortable and extremely well stocked. We enjoyed it so much we even extended our stay and are already trying to plan our next trip! The owners are very easy to communicate with and were wonderful to work with when we asked to stay longer! If you are looking for a place to take your family to unwind and unplug...this is it...stop looking and just book it! You won't regret it!

Summary: This is a stunning log cabin but built with the very best materials and loads of extras. I brought my elderly parents and my teenaged children and from the start this host was super understanding and compassionate. They accommodated our special needs without hesitation. Very good communication! I highly recommend this beautiful (and well-made) log cabin to everyone traveling with a family. The kitchen is well-appointed with condiments and all the necessities to create any meal. While we didn’t cook during our stay you would have anything you need to do so Each bed is super luxurious and they provide fed very nice foam mattresses with soft and fuzzy cabin-style bedding Towels are fluffy and thick and those showers with stone walls - WOW! The view is crazy. You can sit on the expanse deck overlooking the river or the basement deck where you can swing on live-edge swings Definitely a million-dollar place! Be sure you drive an SUV or truck as the roads are gravel with some deep ruts where rain has created little streams. Not a problem for us in our SUVs at all. We LOVED the isolation!
