3 Bedroom Cottage in Dunbeacon, Nr Durrus

3 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Huge Kitchen and 3 reception rooms.
Our beautiful house at Drishane is situated 6 miles from Schull on the Mizen Peninsula in an elevated position with wonderful views over Dunmanus Bay. High speed Internet and printer with office looking over the Atalntic ocean. From the kitchen window you can see on occasions Dolphins and Seals feeding for the mackerel which abound in the water here. It is a lvery spaciaous stone built house in a half acre garden. At night outside the is no light pollution and so is perfect for amateur astronomers who want to find the Hickson Galaxy. Running through the garden is a stream with a small waterfall and pool with a bridge to a little spinney – ideal for the children to play. You can walk to the private beach which is 5 minutes away and within 150 mts view from the property where you can swim fish and sunbathe.
The location is well placed to access Schull, Ballydehob (5 miles), and Baltimore (12 miles) on the Roaring Water Bay side of the peninsula as well as Bantry (7 miles), Glengariff (12 miles) and beyond the Dunmanus side, all of which have many excellent pubs and restaurants. The village of Durrus is 5 miles away with pubs great food and live music plus a mini-market filled with local produce. The surrounding countryside is stunning in all directions both beautiful and craggy and is excellent for hill walking and cycling. There are first class golf courses in Bantry, Glengariff and Skibbereen plus amazing long beautiful sandy beaches around Crookhaven and Barley Cove.
Many of our friends and family who have stayed describe the setting as idyllic but all without doubt maintain it is the best view they have ever experienced anywhere on earth. Surrounded by the mountains and sea washed by the gulf stream waters makes the location and amazing scenery one of those rare places where you can almost touch the peace and serenity. It is truly an unforgettable cottage in the most wonderful of locations – writer’s poets and artists are inspired here - as you open the door and step inside you feel like you have been transposed into another world where you can lose your cares and find tranquility!

Summary: We had the misfortune of visiting while the weather was a bit unkind, so couldn't make the most of the garden and barbecue, but still the house was wonderful. The view over the bay is amazing, and we got to see it through multiple moods. We also saw some visitors in the garden - a hare and a pheasant! Thankfully, the TV and surprisingly good wifi also helped keep everyone entertained when needed.. The area is beautiful with so much to see and do. The host is a gent and the housekeeper just couldn't do enough for us. Stay here!

Summary: The description of this house was very alluring; we wondered if it would match up to expectations. It exceeded them. We’ve just spent a wonderful few days both exploring the breathtaking local scenery and relaxing in the comfy, warm, house overlooking the lough. On a rainy morning we curled up and read our books in complete peace, the tide and weather continually changing the scenic backdrop through the panoramic windows. Our highlights included seeing porpoises, seals and a whale from Mizen Head, enjoying glittering stars and the Milky Way from the house (there’s no light pollution), the welcoming local people, and swimming in the clearest seas we’ve seen anywhere. We are very grateful to the owner for his attention to detail and sincere concern that everything should be perfect for us, which it was.

Summary: We loved staying in the house. It was very comfortable and cozy. The meals cooked with the AGA were always so tasty! The location is perfect for day trips to the various peninsulas; Sheeps head, Mizen head, ring of Beara, ring of Kerry. And the views are stunning!

Summary: Just returned from 3 idyllic weeks in West Cork.Loved staying in this wonderful house. Very comfortable and spacious both indoors and out well appointed and in an ideal location to explore this marvellous part of the world. Highly recommended car definitely required but everything easily accessible. Great holiday.

Summary: My family and I had the most amazing time in this beautiful house. Mornings were spent drinking coffee on the back lawn looking at the bay while the kids played. Days were spent exploring the surrounding areas, beaches, and restaurants. We had many great walks and jogs on the very low traffic winding brush lined roads on which the house sites, with beautiful views of the countryside and the surrounding bays. Evenings were spent in the yard or the cozy kitchen laughing and playing games, enjoying the breeze. Nights were spent slumbering in the very comfortable beds. George was promptly available to answer our questions and could not have been nicer. It was a picturesque experience I would highly recommend, and I would definitely stay in this home again.
